Other than you never meet the person till it's too late, the possibility that you are being trapped into a child abuse sting and other psychopaths out there.
Yeah, its perfectly safe.
I'd rather pick up on people in real life.

In my experience, I've only been lied to once, she said she was 5'4" 135, and would be wearing a shirt with a kitty on it, which turned into a full life sized model of a puma. But I digress, you should be aware that not everyone is going to be completely truthful online, that you should always talk on the phone, with them giving you there number, before you meet in person, and you should always meet in a public place with friends if you can.

1st thing, you don't really know who your dealing with.
They can say they are 1 thing and be another.
If you do meet someone on-line, thru a service, etc.
I'd chat on-line for a while before chatting on the phone.
Also, DO NOT meet in person in the beginning.
This could be dangerous.
I'm not saying that everyone out there is bad, but, don't take any stupid chances.
When you do decide to meet, meet at an open place like for coffee somewhere.
That will give you an idea, even if you or the other person like what you see.
Take things slow, there are LOTS of honest/nice people whom want to meet the same kind of people.
With good judgement and not jumping in with both feet, things should work out ok.
Just don't be too bummed out, if at 1st your don't succeed.
Just try again.

No, because for all you know the guy is a pervert. If you were to set up a meeting with him, he could pretend to be all nice if you insist on bringing someone to meet him with you, and gain your trust. Then before you know it, he is raping and/or murdering you.
