The Ford C-Max advert shows a father prancing about with a baby in his arms. Whilst it is 'cute,' it makes me cringe as to how potentially dangerous this could be. What do you think?

Playing with our children is one thing, but, even with the best intentions, and however careful we try to be, all it takes is one slip to harm your baby.

I have the intelligence to know that babies are not that slippery! And I know it is 'just an advert' but I have witnessed people who have fallen over with babies in their arms....it is awful!

I am certainly not a fool thankyou very much! I am not in the habit of taking every advert literally! But if Ford are to advertise their cars, then they should concentrate on just that!

What a shame all of you took my question to the literal extreme, and could not quite see the point I was making. Maybe I should have worded it differently. Thanks for your replies anyway :o)

I have 5 children, and still dance around, spin around, and throw my youngest in the air and catch her.
Of course I am as careful as I can be while doing so.

Life is full of what ifs and could Be's. There is nothing wrong with dancing around with a baby in your arms. I have yet to meet a parent who didn't at some point dance with their infant in their arms. Now if you want to worry about dangerous things to do with a baby watch the people who drive with their infant sitting in their laps or as Michael Jackson did dangle them from a high place. don't worry yourself so much over what might happen.

I think you're absolutely right. Tango should also look out for people copying it's ads as well. Especially the one where the guy gets shot into a barrel of oranges with a fire extinguisher. Very dangerous.
Stop being a fool, Ford make cars and are promoting a car. They are not suggesting that you should prance around with your baby.

Do you have any children? You sound like you are massively over-protective. Our duty as parents is to expose our children to as much as we can of the world while at the same time ensuring their safety. I fail to see how dancing with a baby in your arms is in any way dangerous. On the contrary, it gives the child the positive feelings of being cradled, and the fun of music and dancing.

I don't think Ford is "promoting" any such thing. It is just an advertisement, for heaven's sake! They are promoting their vehicle!
Lots of people dance around with their babies. No big deal. They aren't that slippery.
Don't overthink the situation. It'll be okay.
P.S. Who is Ron Paul??

I think in a fathers arms is the safest a baby can be and if your baby makes you happy enough to dance with then you should. Babys love movement its a joyous experience.

why not wrap children up and just leave them until they grow up?? that way you will be sure not to drop them..
Children are to be played with and enjoyed, they love being picked up and "danced" with.. its about stimulation and development..
As a father I dance with my son and daughter, pick them up and flip em round etc etc.. Its all about assessed danger and being careful. Its a sad world when parents do not play with their children in case they fall.
