You might have some luck with PC Inspector File Recovery which is free here
http://www.filehippo.com/download_file_recovery/
when the programme opens, you will be presented with the following screen:
http://aycu02.webshots.com/image/17801/2002690743323816585_rs.jpg
click on "Find lost data" - or try "Recover deleted files" as appropriate
On the next screen, under the tab "logical drive" select the drive you wish to recover lost data from - click the green tick

After the scan has finished, expand "Deleted" or "Lost" to see if any files have been recovered

Press CTRL+A to select all files, right click any file and select "save to" -

good luck; some of the files may be irrecoverable or corrupted.

If you did a quick format the data can still be salvaged. Try this software. http://www.cbltech.com/data-recovery/software/recover-lost-data/
If you did a low level format, it's too late, your data has been overwritten.

i guess you wont need to recover those files, coz you cant. when you format a hard drive, all of the information stored in it will be totally erased.
