I hate applying to jobs online...I don't think the company ever looks at my resume..It seems they are ignoring me...I have a very good resume and great potential for working with the company...Why am I not getting any response from these companies...If I do a walk- in at the company and ask them for a paper application they always say apply online...I do that and I keep getting ignored...Do any of you out there ever get any luck with applying for a job online or is it just me???

First of all don't listen to Encantad. I don't know what Country she or he comes from but here in the U.S. you DO NOT include a photo with your resume. It would be one hell of a lawsuit if a prospective employer even asked you for one and it wasn't for a modeling gig or some hotsie vegas show girl. The problem with online applications is that many companies now have filters and the online services are also offering them. For example, if I want an Admin Asst. with 10 years exp. and 70 wpm typing, MSWord experience, etc... I would put like 6 or 7 key words for what I am looking for. If none of those words appear or less than 3 appear the system already filters it out so I won't bother to view it. I personally hate it because you may be overlooking great candidates, but for those who do only recruiting it is a Godsend for them.

yeah, the good ol' days are gone... i'm sure all these companies get many resumes online and , believe it or not, some people are more qualified as far as education and experience. you just have to keep trying. something will click somewhere before you know it, you'll wonder why you ever whined about it on yahoo! answers... go for it, keep trying... cast out your lures and pretty soon you'll land a big fish...

Online job applications are the present and future.

When you send a resume send it as an attachment, make sure it has your photograph, name, address and contact information. If international, your passport number and expiration date.

Next, state your Objective in one or two sentences.

Next, list your Qualifications for the job.

Then work history and education followed by three references.

Write a nice, but short cover letter saying where you heard about the job, why you want it and why you think you are qualified.

I have applied before, but like you I never get a responce. It's annoying and a waste of time. I miss the good ole days of walking into a place and asking for an application.

I am an employer. I have hired most of my employees from on-line ads. Biggest thing is making the potential employer smile from what they read, make it memorable and always follow up with a telephone call. Never leave it up to e-mail conversations. Good luck to you and I hope it all works aout for you very soon.

Call in and tell them you applied online and wanted to ensure that your application was received. Do not get off the phone until you are sure that your application is there.

Call their human relations dept. and tell them about your situation and see what they can do.

Best of luck!

There are some good and bad ones listed out there so you have
to be careful.there are ads that are listed with the intent of filling up their database, and no actual job exists.

I would advise you to hang on and don't get discouraged!
