Today Ms. Sheenhad declared Monday she was walking away from her peace movement.

I have not paid as much attention to her cause other then her son dying in the war and her wanting the US to end the war.

I did read in Ms. Sheenhans online letter that her son "did indeed die for nothing." and her son Casey died for a country which cares more about who will be the next American Idol than how many people will be killed in the next few months while Democrats and Republicans play politics with human lives (her words not mine)

My question is what and/or how did Ms. Sheenhan feel before her son went into the military? Did she not want him to go.? Did she at all try and talk him out of going.? How did she feel about the government while her son was there in the military, before he went over seas? How did she feel about the government before her son was killed.?

I would like to see the references the first person used to make his/her claims. I doubt much of that is true. But if it is...I would like to see references.

Personally, I don't know her feelings before her son's death. But unless you lose someone close (father/brother/son/etc) I really don't think anyone has a right to criticize. She did what she thought was necessary to validate her son's death, and in a way, she has a point: America sits around and grills on Memorial Day. How many people reflect on the war losses?

Until the draft is instituted to include all aspects of society (not just the poor or the family bloodline or the college dropouts - that was me), people cannot sympathize with what happened.

She, from what I have read on her, was pretty much estranged from her son. Her son joined Uncle Sams military because he felt it was the right thing to do....serve his country and protect the freedoms every American enjoys today. We did not get this way from sitting around with our heads in the sand. Alot of Americans died for this country and her freedoms since her birth and will die in the future. They do not ever die in vain, we are still a free nation. She should be very ashamed for her actions and her words....I am sure her son is looking down feeling ashamed of her!

I'm sure she didn't want him to go, but I must seriously question her connection to her son. He signed up for military service to protect his country, and after seeing how proud soldiers are of their duties, I cannot imagine how ashamed and horrified he would be at her behavior.

I have no respect for a woman, who uses her son's good name to gain national attention for herself.

I have no respect for a woman, who had army to pay for her son's tutition (and other benefits), but refuses to accept the price tag.

A lot of court records show that she had very little contact with her son and had a smal role in raising him. On top of that, she has not been to his grave site once yet.

Sounds like a reasonable question. To bad she doesn't talk about things like that, instead of denouncing our government.
