I'm actually writing a database schema for a client's web application.

But given that so much of the bible is not rule ... more of a story ... what signifies writing as being divinely inspired? Is it only if it's in the bible?

I know that the Catholic church added divine writ explaining the ascension of Mary, which wasn't in the bible. Was that not divinely inspired?

I will always assume that anything you write will be divinely inspired. Or well worth reading, at the very least ...

The question of Divine inspiration is one of faith and evidence. If you could show me sufficient evidence that you were writing something Divinely inspired I may believe it. However that doesn't appear to be the case.

The reason for the belief of Biblical inspiration is due to the fact that it is very factual and has a strong level of continuity not found in other works of literature. Books written centuries apart deal with issues of God and His followers and all fit together. This is the reason most Christians will claim that the Bible is inspired by God.

However, exactly which version and cannon is believed to be inspired by God is up for debate, and it is also a matter of faith. The Bible has gone through many changes over the years, producing more than one accepted version.

As for the action of the Catholic church, I personally do not believe it to be Divinely inspired due to lack of evidence, but once again, it is a question of faith. And I am not Catholic.

So, as a Christian, all I can say is that you must examine works for yourself, do some research, and pray, as the issue is a matter fo faith.

Those things that are Divinely Inspired, are sent to Messengers and Prophets in the form of a Vibration or sometimes called a Resonance, through Archangel Gabriel,
from the Creator.
What or what is not divinely inspired is unknown (or hidden),
for there are no copies of it in written form except: The latest
and that is the Holy Quran. It was written as it was translated
through Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
I am not saying this to convert anyone or to show favoritism toward any particular religion or faith, I'm simply answering the question as asked.

There are vast segments of the Holy Bible that are Divinely Inspired, yet it requires "Wisdom" to sort through it and find the "Truth" that is contained within. Primarily the Old Testament. Many of the quotes are misinterpreted within the New Testament.

There is a "Gospel according to Mary", that is difficult to find, and it contains much "Truth".
There is a "Gospel according to Barnabas", that is difficult to find that contains much "Truth", also.
If you find either of these texts, be careful as to the interpretation. For they are highly controversial.

So many people come and go claiming their works are divinely inspired. They do have a right to be heard and considered but a the same time ought not to have a problem in having what they say questioned or tested by the religious authorities or skeptics and answers to their validity will be as divided as ever.

Many certainly question the validity of the RC church on some of its teaching on Marian things but others question religions that claim to do faith healing and whose ministers do so called miracles with the help of God or claim to know who has eternal security and can sin with immunity or impunity and who does not. On such issues that were interpreted from "divine inspiration" ,the various sects of Christianity part company.

Be that as it may,
we would have to see your written works and see how much we were inspired before passing comment.

If watched any of John Waters early films and that made you sit down and write then maybe you were divinely inspired (or inspired by Divine {Harris Glenn Milstead October 19, 1945 – March 7, 1988)
If watching "Andy's Gang or any of the 400+ movies, radio and TV appearances of Andrew Vabre "Andy" Devine (October 7, 1905 - February 18, 1977) inspired you Then you can point to him as divine inspiration

If one is in the SPIRIT, and well taken root, then what he writes cannot but be divinely inspired.

The Scriptures speak of a day when the need for a Prophet is no more - because all are listening directly to GOD. HIS Truth will not differ for anyone, but all ought to seek GOD's Face directly and have a personal look into the things that Revelation from GOD express. As long as anyone is ignoring GOD's Voice, a Prophet shall be sent.

The Bible is wholly the Word of GOD, but most certainly not HIS whole Word. HE is infinite, and not like a cd having only a short play list. HE's the LIVING GOD, WHOM sola scripturists know not.

Revelation is not merely the name of a Book, nor only a record in the Bible, but a Reality unveiled universally in CHRIST.

The Bible is not the LAMB's Book of Life, nor the extent of Prophecy, but men limiting GOD, are blasphemous, and ignorant, and starngers to the Divine Inheritance.

The Scriptures say that CHRIST is with us to the end of the Age, and that HIS Sheep know HIS Voice, and that HIS SPIRIT makes us to Prophesy, and that Prophecy will remain until we see GOD face to Face.

There is no Scripture list in Scripture.

As for the quran, it is the little horn prophesied of in Daniel.

One reason I would have to not believe that you are writing divinely inspired literature is if I don't feel the Holy Ghost when I read it and don't feel the Holy Ghost when I pray and ask God if it is His word. I have already done this in regards to the Holy Bible and I received an answer to my prayers. I know that the Bible is the word of God. So if your literature contradicts the Holy Bible or teaches against it, I would know that it's not of God.

Moroni 10:4-6 "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things. And whatsoever thing is good is just and true; wherefore, nothing that is good denieth the Christ, but acknowledgeth that he is."

There is no new revelation, and all the Bible is real and not a story. The Catholic beliefs are seriously in error and not consistent with biblical teaching and certainly not good exegesis (proper interpretation based on languages).

The only way you or anyone else will know if the Bible is divinely inspired is if you get to now the Author as I have -- His name is God.

Man is born divine until he was raised to forget his divinity because of what was injected by the religions.."fear and guilt.". All however is given the ability to find it back and when you think you can write inspirational letters go ahead. The constant writing may help you find your true nature.

If you believe that you are writing divinely inspired literature than that is what you believe. And if you believe that you are writing divinely inspired literature than you are just as crazy as the men that wrote the bible. But, 2 millenniums later they are dead and immortalized as disciples, maybe you will be immortalized in another 2 millenniums as well.

Well, you just told us you aren't.

But... if you were, the question would have to be what is the point of YOU receiving divine inspiration for all of us.

If there was a point, I suppose it could happen, but divine intervention would have to come through a prophet.

I think that the inspiration you and I receive is personal and only meant for ourselves, not be implied that we have received it for someone else. If God has a message for them, I believe he will let them know on a personal level.
