Lets start with the social and emotional effects. Smoking makes your breath smell bad and taste bad to any nonsmoker that kisses you or gets close to your mouth. I would never date a woman who smoked!

After you have smoked for awhile, you will get addicted to it. This is not a posibility, this is a certainty! The nicotine in cigarettes is one of the most addictive chemicals that there is! When I smoked, I could not go long enough between cigarettes to sit through a movie at the theater. I had to go out in the middle of the movie to smoke.

When you are smoking, at times the ash will fall off of the cigarette and fall on the clothes you are wearing, burning a hole in them. It costs money to replace the clothes.

More and more public places like restaurants and bars are going smoke free. In Minnesota, where I live, they just passed a law that no one can smoke in ANY public building.

As someone who used to work for many years as a RN, I have to talk about the physical affects of smoking. Most lung cancer is caused by smoking. Smoking increases your risk of all kinds of cancer. It is the main cause of emphysema, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease, and asthma.

The tars and other things in cigarette smoke wreck your veins, arteries, and heart.

Once you get addicted to the nicotine in cigarettes, there is no guaranty that you will be able to quit, although nicotine gum and patches have helped a lot.

I started smoking at 14 y/o and when I quit at 24 y/o I was smoking 2 and 1/2 packs a day. At todays prices that would cost about $7 or $8 a day. That's at least $50.00 a week, $200.00 a month, and $2500.00 a year.

Can you imagine how nice a vacation you could have every year for $2500.00! What a nice car you could own if you could add $200.00 a month to what you could otherwise afford for a car payment.

Please don't smoke. If you have started smoking, please quit. Please encourage anyone you know to either not start smoking or to quit smoking.

DO NOT ever smoke! It's obviously HARMFUL! Just can't get it, is smoking tat fun? Smokers can have their pleasure of smoking now, but take note that one day, they will sure suffer dire consequences of smoking. You will get addicted once you start smoking. there's this chemical substance called nicotine. It makes you get addicted to smoking.
