Before I ever really met a shih-tzu I didn't particularly like them, just because I prefer large dogs to small dogs, and I didn't think they were very cute. But after I have met a lot of them from working in a vet clinic, I just Fell in love! I think they are such sweet goofy dogs. Someday when I get a house, and more room, I will adopt a shih-tzu. I'm just wondering, how do you feel about the breed?

That is exactly what happened to me.. I used to kind of have an aversion to Shih-tzu's most of them I met belonged to elderly people and were yappy mean little ugly things.. but then my best friends parents started to breed Shih-tzus and I have since fallen in love with them, their dogs are so cute, loveable and gentle and they just love people.. they are people dogs all the way. I cant believe how cute they are, especially the puppies!! Anyway, now that I have met some nice Shih's I really love the breed and I was thinking of getting one someday.. I dont know we'll see but I sure like the breed alot more than I used to.. especially since these dogs dont have stupid bows in their hair and arent treated like little babies, they are treated like dogs and they act like big dogs... its funny to see little shih-tzus running around with big horses and being all rough and tumble.. its a far cry from the spoiled bratty beasts I had based my opinion on before. Really I also preffered big dogs, but these little Shihs changed my mind they have such big dog heart in a little dog body!!

I recently purchased a shih tzu, but it's only 5 weeks old so I can't bring it home for another 2 weeks. I think they're so cute. I just hope they're smart and easily house trained. But everyone I know that has one says they're the greatest dogs ever! Loving, calm, and friendly to everyone.

Not everyone loves shih tzus. I have no use for a dog that small.

I'm pretty much like you use to be prefer large dogs and think the shih-tzus is too prissy for me. But nothing is ever in stone when it comes to animals!

Oh i love them alot i have one thats white black and brown and mostly white and i swear hes so cute i named him shaggy and they dont get real big well just only to 9 pounds i swear they love and love people they love to play and they seriously love to chew on things anything even ur hair hehe but they are seriously cute and fun and also funny they are silly little dogs ! and everytime i eat my dog will just look at me and stare until i give him something to eat off MY plate oh and they dont like to get wooped and they love to give kisses i mean a bunch if u make a funny noise it will turn its head and give u a what the heck face they are so one of the best dogs ever!

they are the sweetest most loving dogs you will find. aside from the having to keep them groomed (their hair never stops growing) they are very low maintenance. My mom and I recently had to put mine down from childhood (we think it had to do with the pet food recalls lately...) she lived to be 15 years old, and was one of the best dogs I've ever had. They are great with kids, and VERY smart. They are also great with people with allergies, because they don't shed at all, ever. you can't go wrong, and congrats on your decision to be a puppy mommy!!! Good luck!!!!

They are my favorite dogs also! I have wanted one for about 7 years now, and my husband just bought me one about a month ago for my birthday. Her name is Bailey and she is the light of my life :)

I think they are over priced fur balls that rich people want to make them feel important. Sorry to be so blunt but you asked an opinion. Plus the yellow/orange/red stuff by their eyes looks gross.
