Dale Jr has stated that his primary criteria for selecting a team for the 2008 season on is winning races and winning championships.
While he and Tony Stewart are good friends on and off the track, I'm not sure that JGR would be a good fit for Junior based on the above criteria.
Although driving for JGR would give Junior a good chance at winning races, I'm not sure that he would have a great chance of winning championships, especially while competing with teammates Stewart and Hamlin.
Furthermore, the 18 team, which Junior would doubtless inherit should he move to JGR, has suffered of late, so the prospect of winning races might also be in jeopardy.
Finally, I dount Junior will want to part ways with the Budweiser sponsorship, and Joe Gibbs has already stated that he will not have Budweiser as a team sponsor.
In all, the outlook is bleak for a Dale Jr/JGR partnership. I think Junior's best bet will be to sign with Ginn Racing driving the 01 car.

JGR would benefit by having Dale Jr., on their team. Jr. having teammates like Stewart and Hamlin would greatly benefit him as a driver. It has been a long time since Dale Jr. has had a team member he could count on. The only issue is Joe Gibbs said that he does not want him, because of Budweiser. Joe Gibbs won't have a beer company as a sponsor, just like Petty Enterprises. RCR would not be a terribly good fit. He wouldn't drive the #3 car, he's too young. I think that Ricky Rudd wishes HE were still driving the #3.
Joe Gibbs is a good fit. Hamlin and Stewart are good friends. And would make great teammates. Somewhere he could be competitive.

It's not going to happen. Since JD Gibbs didn't want to have an alcoholic beverage as a sponsor. JD has four young children, do you think a man like that would want someone who works for him to cause a major issue with a certain sponsor. I know for a fact that Jr. will never work for JGR, so if anyone is reading this drop the questions about Jr. and JGR.

Napa55Toyota, here is a group for Ricky Rudd and the #3 car if you wish to check it out. When I first became a race fan, Ricky was driving #3 for Richard Childress, and Dale Earnhardt was driving the #15 Wrangler Ford for Bud Moore. That was the good old days , to me Ricky will always be #3 and Dale will always be #15 (before he went over to The Dark Side).
As to the question, I think Jr. will wind up mending fences and staying with DEI, once they/ve gotten all the publicity they can milk from his "leaving".

Gibbs won't have anyone driving for him that has alcohol or tobacco sponsoring a driver, so very unlikely due to the fact that Bud will go with Jr and I don't see Jr. dumping Bud

I think Joe Gibbs is an extremely intelligent man who knows what the hell Dale needed to hear to make such a decision.
Given my unwavering support of the #18 car since entering this world called Nascar, and my complete confidence in Jr.'s ability as a championship driver. I have nothing but love for them and cant wait to see what they bring to the table.

It would be cool...I just want to see him with someone who is gonna give him what he needs to be the best that he can be. Because all true Jr fans know that Jr has some serious skills that are being held back while he is with DEI.

I don't think of it since it's rather unlikely unless Jr. really does leave Bud behind.
It would be really cool, but if Yeley can keep up what he's doing(15th in standings, 59 points out of the Chase), he's going to stay at JGR, and Jr. will have to pick from his other options.

long as he doesn't run the #3 ! it would probably be a bigger help for JR if he went to hendricks but either way the quality of his teamates would help him live up to the potential i know he has. there isn't anybody though......not gorden , not johnson--noone in nascar right now thats got the feet to fill the shoes of the big E. there hasn't been a race run since he died that he wouldn't have made a difference in--------not to say he'd have won another championship---but everybody on the track was better because of him & he'd have won a few by now!
