Acid rain changes the pH of the soil. The acid leaches out the minerals in the soil leaving less available for the plant to absorb.

Acid Rain- In industrialized countries of the world large quantity is released in to the atmosphere by the factories. The most common among the gaseous pollutants are the oxides of nitrogen and sulfur.

SO2+H20 = H2SO3 (acid)

SO3+ H2O = H2SO4 (acid)

Nitrogen oxides get dissolved in to water vapor to form nitric acid. These acids are dissolved in water falling down in the form of rain drops. This is called acid rain.

N2O5 + H2O = 2HNO3 (acid)

On an average 60% -70% of acidity is caused be H2SO4 and other 30-40%, of the acidity is caused by HNO3.
On earth surface acid rain increases the acidity of water and thus destroys aquatic life vegetation and lowers the oxygen content of water.

Since the acid rain water may dissolve some toxic metallic pollutants , it can directly enhance their toxic action.

Acid rain makes the plant weak, which affect plant reproduction, and decrease ability to fight with disseases.

acid rain decreases the ph of the soil that is increases the acidity of the soil whic renders it unfertile. moreover as acid rain consists of so2 and nitrogen compounds, the diseases like necrosis and chlorosis are caused in the leaves as a result the leaves loose chlorophyll and get wilte. so plant dies because of lack of food.
