DBZnut is right in his statement that at LEAST 15,000 muslims are fighting in the US Army, for this person's very right to state that they don't matter. What is wrong with the people who think like this? Do they think life is deserved or not based on religion? I honestly still can not understand how people can be so cold. He should be happy they are not on the other side. I am a muslim woman, and I do have several members of my family who have served in the US Army. My grandfather was buried with the whole honor thing (please forgive me, I don't know the correct term). My grandmother was handed his flag. He had two Purple Hearts, among several other medals that are in my uncle's possession, because he is the eldest. Can you please share your thoughts on how ignorance is too common, and suggest ways of how we can teach our children to determine character of a person, and go by that instead of religion/skin?

No one should ever be discriminated against for whatever the reason. It goes against the core principles on which this nation has been founded: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed, by their Creator, with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."

You should be proud of your grandfather's service as well as all U.S. Military Service Men and Women for their courageous dedication to protect the liberties and freedoms of the people of this great nation.

I live overseas in a military housing community. Really, here, its kind of a Utopia, we do not tolerate racisim of *any* kind here. I think, that at least among military families (I've been in around 8 different military communities, in and out of the states) that there is far less of that going on.

Who really care what ignorant rabble say? The Military family is large enough that you don't need those idiots. We fight for their right to sat what they want... we cannot judge them.

Who somewhat care what ignorant rabble say? the protection rigidity family members is adequately huge which you do not desire those idiots. We combat for their precise to sat what they desire... we can not decide them.

After reading your 360 profile, and seeing that you converted to Islam, I have to ask;

Was your grandfather muslim?

When you see a poll in a national newspaper that 25% of the muslims under 30 believe that suicide bombings are justified, how can we trust such people to serve in our military? It is not prejudice or racism, it is a pragmatic approach to keeping our forces secure.

I have to go with you. I serve now with several and in my many years of service have know and fought alongside a large number of brave, just, and noble men of the Muslim faith. One of my dearest friends is a Muslim with whom I trade thoughts and ideas on theology regularly. I have come to understand much thanks to this relationship, and vise versa. Here comes the kicker. I am from a Jewish and Catholic family. Who would have thought. Truth be told we have more in common in our faiths than we have different. Let us not judge one another on our religions, rather on our character. By the way the funeral was done with "military honors". I have been part of far to many of those.

You simply let them know in age appropriate terms what they are really seeing when exposed to racism. You keep up the dialogue as you do on birth control, cigarettes, drugs, and all the other things. On honour, goodness, doing the right thing. All of these things we teach our children... we teach them to question intolerance based on skin tone.

You make equality even though "different" as applied to EVERYTHING a part of their basic education in living. same as males/females, black/red/yellow/white/green skintone, or muslim/christian/hindu/buddhist. You just teach them to appreciate HUMANITY.

It worked for mine.. but then, they were honey skinned growing up in a very white town. They NEVER experienced racism and like their mother sees skin tones but just appreciate the beauty of variety. I used to tell my little ones that people were like flowers in a garden, all shapes, sizes and colours and all of them beautiful, contributing to the beauty of the whole garden itself.

sayyadina,no place except the us and the armed services has people of so many faiths serving with faith that their help is needed and necessary.anyone who disparages anothers value or worth because of the wrong faith has had access to education and manners,and has ignored both.in this century we still have people who are 100 years behind in attitudes towards other faiths and nationalities,i am glad that people like you and your relatives have adopted this country.it is we who are better off because of you,,,,,it will get better,insh'alla
