cut out the damage. any split ends you might have. Go to the salon and get a deep conditioning treatment to bring moisture back to into your hair. Switch your shampoo and conditioner to one specifically designed for dry hair. Head and Shoulders has several different types that would be helpful. If you're not using conditioner, start it immediately! You could use a hot oil treatment, but only if you don't have oily hair. The best thing though is for you to go see a professional and get some tips from them.
Once your hair begins to recover take good care of it. If you don't have to wash your hair every day, don't. Water dries it out. If you color your hair try to find a brand that isn't so harsh on hair. Avoid blow-drying your hair. If you absolutely must, flip your head upside down. If you use anything else with heat (curling iron, straightener.. etc) make sure your hair is completely dry first, try to find a product that will protect your hair from heat damage and apply that before using heat. Also before you blow-dry: Towel dry your hair well, shake it off so your it's not dripping. The more water your hair contains the longer it will take to blow-dry, meaning more heat is applied causing more damage. I usually wrap my hair in a towel for about 10-15 minutes, doing other things. By the time i take the towel off it's no longer dripping. I shake it off, comb through it gently give it a few more minutes and then blow dry. If you're in a hurry then just shake your hair out while in the shower. This should do the trick quickly. (hey, if it works for my dog it'll work for me)
Good luck!

Do not use homemade products 1st off. They are bad for your hair. They coat it way to much.. Redkin makes a great shampoo and conditioner IT is called so soft. .AND BOY IS IT SO SOFT.. Also Matrix makes another great one called SLEEK.. VERY SOFT AND NICE. They are salon products . Which means they cost a bit more but u will use less then store products because they are water soluble (meaning the water u use makes a small bit lather up really good) so Really in the long run it all pans out.. You can call around salons in your area to find them. Also while u are there ask about a spray shine.. u just put it on when its dry and it shines all day... B for u purchase anything at salons ask them what their return policy is.. Most will give u credit, some cash back.. Those are great products.. I hope that helped.. Hairstylist for over 6 yrs..GL!

well depending on your hair color try john freidas radiant red, brillant brunette or the blonde one(cant rember what its called) they can really make a diffrence if you use the shmpoo and then get some products for however you style your hair, also their are panteen and suave knock offs of that but i am not sure how well they compare since i have not tried them yet so go with the john freida just to be safe, and then maybe try the cheaper stuff after your hair builds some shine

firstly try some new shampoo and conditioner. some off them come especially for dry hair. try this for about two weeks, if you see improvement, keep going. If you don't, go to a beauty parlor and ask them for a hair treatment pack, tell them your problem and they should give you a good hair rinsing and cleaning, then a oil treatment and then maybe a hair spa...
hope this helps!

If you could catch a bucket of rain water, that would be a great thing to rinse your hair in. Also a wash out rinse with beer is supposed to make your hair shine. Have you tried conditioners? You can get them cheap (around a dollar) at most stores.

Use a clarifying shampoo - Neutrogena Anti-Residue is the best one. This will remove product buildup & any residue from minerals in your water.
Try to use it at least once a week. Follow up w/ a light conditioner.
