Easy The Intel core 2 Duo is FASTER!!!
The main diff is that core 2 duo has 2 processors, so it 's better if you have more than 1 application or window open at the same time...like say MS word, typing a letter and Surfing the web, as well as a messenger program like MSN or ICQ or yahoo messenger. Lets face it most of us have more than one window open at the same time these days!
The Intel Core 2 Duo is the 2 generations of technology ahead of the Pentium III.
I just upgraded and believe me it's heaps snapier, and quicker I like it.

first , they are totally different . the 1.85 GHz is what is called ( core solo ) which means it contains only one processor inside it , core duo processors have 2 processors and core 2 duo have 4 , which enables multi-tasking and parallel applications working together smoothly , ofcourse speed is great , so if u want basic stuff , such as surfing , office applications , very simple stuff , core solo will serve u , but if u want the computer for gaming , developing , or graphic designing , i suggest u go with the core duo although it's more expensive ofcourse . i hope i helped.

the general difference is that dual processor is more effecient and work with more speed
technically P||| works on the cocenpt of pipeling where data flows as if water in the pipe
where as in dual proc the concept is multithreading and multitasking
where time is divided to different processes to perform specific function simultaneously

I would estimate about 4X. There are not a lot of published benchmarks that compare processors of such different generations, but here is an informal benchmark that indicates 4X, with qualifications.

that's annoying to tell because of the fact as yet another mentioned, it could desire to easily be distinctive names for the comparable. yet there are such somewhat some editions available that it could desire to be distinctive. attempt posing links to descriptions/product pages for the two and it could be achieveable to grant you an exact answer.
