hair dye dries hair which makes it more likely to be brittle which leads to hair falling off. This process will take a while to happen though. Obviously your hair gets damaged by dying and i guess you bleach to, which is the worst thing to do to your hair. especially if you do it often. idk if it will happen when your thirty but it will happen. i think you can compare your hair with your body. how you treat your body now is going to affect you when you are older. Just like if you smoke or do drugs when your older you end up getting a lot of illnesses and your body is all f*cked up. Okay wrote a lot, but yes your hair will thin out and may end up falling.

Your dad is trying to scare you out of coloring your hair... typical uniformed dad response.
No - coloring your hair repeatedly over time will not cause it to fall out. If that was true, I would be bald by now at nearly 30. However, chemical treatments performed improperly can cause hair breakage or loss.
Hair thinning and loss can come from many sources, most common is genes. Look at other women in your family... if they are thinning as they age, it's likely you will as well. Hair loss can also be caused by stress, reactions to medication, or more serious health issues such as thyroid dysfunction.
If you have your hair colored by a pro, you are highly unlikely to ever experience loss of hair due to the coloring process. If you color your own hair, this is still not very likely to happen. Those who color their own hair are more likely to lose hair when they try to lighten it... bleaching your hair is best left to a professional.
So, tell your dad he's wrong and I said so! :)

No if it looks healthy. And plus by the time your thirty, the hair thats been dyed, will probaly allready have been cut off. I stopped Dying my hair so much cause now my hair is brittle. But you still need to give your hair breaks, from dying it so much.

Well my mom use to dye her hair alot when she was younger and she is always telling me not to dye my hair a lot which I do. anywayz her hair is really thinned out and the front is completely gone like beyond receding hair line. So I am kinda starting to believe her because I have only dyed my hair twice this year I'm 18 and it is totally thinning out in the front and I am hoping it doesn't turn out like hers. So all in all I agree w/ your dad it will start to fall out slowly over time and never be as thick as it was when you were younger. And trust me you have a lot of dyeing in your future when you start to turn grey. Good luck. Hope I helped. Please add me to your contacts and email me w/ any hair questions you have via yahoo answers.

He's right, it will start to fall out. I'm only 19 and some of my hair falls out when I'm combing it after a shower. You should be fine but if you keep dying it repeatedly for years then you will start to notice that your hair is dry and damaged.

hmmm...i could say no, yet being that your a black woman and that i dont comprehend alot approximately your hair varieties or your hair specially, i could say to do a hidden try strand. im going to nonetheless flow with the actuality that your hair will prob be ok, yet i wouldnt threat it. hair dye is nicely no longer that undesirable for hair. now in case you have been putting bleach over old bleach, then youd have a prob. and your hair wouldnt fall out, it may in basic terms spoil off the place the bleach began.

it will thin and look less healthy. is your dad hairdresser? depending on the dye you use you can make your hair folicles into genetic mutants -- peroxide is the worst for this -- but that would be an immediate process. a friend of mine melted a patch of hair on the back of her head -- i think it was from a perm though -- anyway no hair ever grew back in that spot.

Good Grief! He is just trying to scare you, sounds like it worked!
No amount of hair coloring will make your hair fall out years later! As long as it's done right and taken care of now, you have nothing to worry about.

im not going to say it couldent happen but i would recomned picking a hair color and staying with it and also using a natural hair dye, clairol makes natural instincts that is an all natural hair dye that dosent damage your hair very much, this should help, and make sure you get the split ends cut off when nessisary
