Jesus violates the sabbath by picking grain and incites people to do likewise in Matt 12:1-8 and Mark 2:23-26
Jesu violates the sabbath again by healing a man's arm which wasn't a life or death situation. Matt 12:9-13 and Mark 3:1-5

How can Christians justify and overlook such blatent infractions. In the old testament God warns people of false prophets and Jesus is one them. I have read the bible and I challenge every Christian out there to do the same.

A Catholic Priest answers my question now I have seen it all. Since you only read the same parts week after week how would you know what the bible speaks of, you have your own bible called the "Catholic Bible" which differs inspots to a standard bible. I have forgiven your church for the grief it has caused me a number of years ago when I was touched inapropriately by a high ranking member of it. So don't throw stones at me when your glass house has many hidden horrors sir, got it!

God the creator is clear on his laws, but many Christians can justify anything I suppose

That is a very good point, and I know exactly where you are coming from. I'm not going to yell at you online or tell you that your going to go to hell, because that will just get emotions running high. I have to say I don't quite agree with you in some of your areas, but I like that you voice your opinions. You make a great point.

The Old Testament focused mainly on the fact that if you put a certain thing in or on your body, the Lord gets angry with you. But what Jesus does a lot in the New Testament is break down those rules of the Old Testament. The Pharisees and Priests were becoming tyrants, tyrants to keep every Jew straight on the path. The path to unangried God, and they were so pushy that Jesus came and saw that they were kinda being treated like a God, because of all of the things that were to keep all Jews away from sinning against God. So, Jesus came and put an emphasis on what goes into your soul. Not what goes on on the outside, but on the inside.

So, the OT taught what goes on the outside of your body will get you to be on the good side of God, but Jesus taught it matters on what goes into your soul. Now, Jesus might have been one of those false prophets, but he seemed (to me at least) to bring good out in people.

I hope this helped at least a little bit, sorry if it didn't. Now, granted, I have not read the entire bible, but I am working on it. For me, it has the sleeping charm, where you sit down to read it and after about a half-an-hour, I fall asleep. Have a great week now.

We all have to admit it, the church has its flaws...unfortunately for you, it was a huge flaw. I know that there is nothing that I can say that will help you, I can't really apologize cause I have no say in anything. I can, however apologize for everyone that has thrown stones at you.

you are twisting the truth. What is wrong with picking the grain? They were hungry. Healing is a gift. The Sabbath is a perfect day for that. Remember the sabbath and to keep it holy. How do we do that? By keeping our mind [our focus] on the fact that the day is special, for rest, for worship. You can worship in a field, at home or in a church. You can focus on God anywhere. It's fine to eat on the sabbath. It's fine to heal and do good for others on the sabbath. He did not break the commandment. Jesus never sinned.

No. it is not unlawful to consume or to do good deeds. The Pharisees made all varieties of regulations that made the Sabbath a burden. as an occasion, you are able to desire to not take out your handkerchief to blow your nostril. which would be artwork. The regulations could desire to be cruel or perhaps ridiculous. Jesus unfavorable the guy made regulations that have been never area of preserving the Sabbath. Jesus Himself continuously saved the Sabbath the way it became into meant to be saved, as an afternoon of relax in communion with God.

Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath. The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath.

Sunday replaces the Sabbath for Christians because Christ's Passover fulfills the truth of the Jewish Sabbath. The Old Law worship prepared for the mystery of Christ. "We have come to a new hope, no longer keeping the sabbath, but the Lord's Day" (St. Ignatius of Antioch).

Observing Sunday fulfills the moral command inscribed in man's heart to render public and regular worship to God "as a sign of his universal beneficence to all" (St. Thomas Aquinas). Sunday worship fulfills the Old Law by a weekly celebration of the Creator and Redeemer.

Peace and blessings!

"Man was not made for the Law but the Law was made for Man"

Jesus who is God is the Lord of the Sabbath. A higher law than the Sabbath law was applied. It is not an infraction of any form but rather an affirmation on Jesus' authority.

Jesus doesn't break the sabbath. Using the power of the Priesthood on the sabbath is not against God's laws.

Any other work on Sunday is breaking the law of keeping the sabbath day holy.

Jesus did many things that broke the "old laws". Jesus was God, upon the earth, to change the "old laws" of the Old Testament. They were very strict, and God felt He needed to change things, to make it easier for people to make it to Heaven. God came to earth, in the body of a man, to show us the "New Testament", which began when Jesus was crucufied and rose, again. When the curtain was torn.
We do not follow the laws of the "Old Testament", Thank God, or we would be sacrificing animals.
I am very sorry, for your bad experience. It is horrible for someone to call themselves, a man of God, and then hurt a child, like what happened to you. When someone calls themselves a Christian, it should not be in their minds to do, anything like that.

The Sabbath was not made for God but for us guys. It was supposed to be a day of rest. Jesus did say that it would be better to rescue someone on a Sabbath than not to.

I have read the bible and I am a Catholic priest. Funny how you only bring up the infractions, but you do not bring up Jesus' retort to the accusations. If you wish to present an argument do you not think it wise to present the whole of the subject matter? May the Lord bless and keep you. May the light of His face shine upon you.

Jesus does this specifically to make the point that He is Lord of the Sabbath.
