Help with duo singing?

Question

I'm singing a song with a girl for a performance. During the song, there are various times in which she is supposed to come in and harmonize. However, whenever she's supposed to do this, she gets confused and sings in the same key as me. How do you train someone to split and harmonize, and not get confused? Help is much appreciated. you are both singing in the same key

what she has to do is learn her part - and be able to sing it separately - can you sing it through with her? so she can memorize it?

I have had the same problem back when I was in some of my choirs. The only way I have found to help the other person is to go over her part over and over. Once I had to attually sing their part in practice for 2 weeks, make a cd for them to practice at home too, and then work on my part at home on my own. Then, 1 week before we had to preform, I started to work my part back into it, explaining that if we couldn't do it in practice, it would be a train wreak. So my advise would be to help her get her part in her head anyway you can, then work on your part with hers close to the preformance. Good luck!

best way i can think of is train her to by listening. I suggest you listen to a country group named "Big & Rich". They harmonize every song, and even though they are country they are good to build a foundation for you. Also, if you know your scales, have her sing a scale with you, but harmonize her on every note, and take it tone by tone until she is confortable.

practice with a piano or other instrument and play her part during practice until she can eventually start on the right note. takes a lot of practice!

If she can't do it do it yourself. When me and my ex sang I always sang the harmonies.
