You can lose a pound a week and never lose fat through dehydration. Sometimes after a long run, if I don't properly hydrate during the run, I can lose 4-6 pounds. Those are bad pounds to lose, it's all water. I'm pretty sure you specifically want to lose fat, and your not trying to make weight for some event.
To lose fat, a pound a week, you need to deficit your body 3500 calories a week. This can be done through a combination of exercise, and a reduction of caloric intake. If you eat 200-300 less a day, and burn 200-300 a day through exercise you'll lose a pound a week. Obviously, double that for two pounds but it might be a little less due to the rise in metabolism. Good Luck.

to lose a pound of body fat deficit has to be 3500cal - so thats 500cal/day.
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 500cal off that number and you will have created your deficit.
