I totally understand where you are coming from. Well, many who freak out about it do that because they believe that it totally goes against everything that the bible teaches. Evolution is not perfect, what I mean by that is that those who believe that Evolution does not exist probably believe that God would not make anything unperfect. So, he would make absolutely everything constant and never-changing like him. That is another belief that these awesome people have, that the Bible says that we are made in God's image, but God is never changing. So, if the Bible is to be followed tooth by nail, evolution cannot exist, either that or God changes. Which many can't accept that the Bible is exactly true.

And, since we are on the topic of evolution, one point of proof that we weren't meant to be perfect and never-changing would be the fact that he created us to be perfect, like him, but Adam and Eve had the forbidden fruit, causing a change in what they were made to do. Hope this helped a little bit. Very sorry for the length.

Some people are under the false assumption that you have to choose between creationalism or evolution. Such types feel that any consideration of evolution constitutes a complete rejection of creationism. Likewise, those on the science crowd will interpret any consideration for creatioism as a total rejection of evolution.

As in any case involving extremes, the middle ground offers the most logical solution. The next time someone asks you to choose between creationism and evolution, you can answer, "Neither, it's both!"

Frankly, I think it actually takes a bigger leap of faith to believe God created everything out of nothing. How can such a thing happen "by accident"?

What's more, we should not discount God's use of what we call "evolution" in His creating things.

Officially, as far as creation is concerned, it doesn't matter whether or not one embraced evolution as long as one accepts God created all things from nothing.

Since science has demonstrated beyond any reasonable doubt that biological evolution is a fact, and since Catholics believe that the Bible, correctly interpreted, is truth, there obviously cannot be any conflict between the two. Truth cannot conflict with truth. However, the simplistic, uninformed, unauthoritative biblical interpretations of Christian fundamentalists often do conflict with reality. Unfortunately these people consider their biblical interpretations infallible, even though they conflict not only with facts proven by science, but also with the biblical interpretations of the majority of Christians. And so their only possible conclusion is that objective reality, including scientific discovery, must be false. Because otherwise their guesses about the meaning of Scripture would have to be false, and that is simply unthinkable.

The Catholic Church has no issues with our Lord and Savior creating scientist and researchers and we believe that God, our Creator, had a direct intervention with each step of the evolutionary process. I am far from a theologian but this is how I understand it.
Why is it God could not create the evolutionary process?

Here's a quote from Pope John Paul II The Great:
"There are also signs of a resurgence of fideism, which fails to recognize the importance of rational knowledge and philosophical discourse for the understanding of faith, indeed for the very possibility of belief in God."

Amen!

If you believe in the God of the Bible,
He created water animals and birds on day 5 and other animals and man on day 6. He saw all He made and it was very good.
No sin, no death.
Sin entered the world when Adam sinned and death is a result of that. There was no death before sin.
This leaves no room for evolution.
Also, it has not been proven that one organism can evolve into a completely different organism.

They are just so defensive about everything nowadays and maybe they don't realize you have to analyze everything. Not everything is bad just like not everything is good. I think that is one way the Evil One creeps in. He mixes the lies in with the truth and people have no discernment

Some Christian denominations believe God dictated the Bible word for word.

don't know, science shouldn't contradict God/faith, becuase God is the author of the universe and its laws. So whatever science discovers, God created. Maybe God used the big bang to create the universe and evolution to create life. Keep in mind that Genesis doesn't specifically tell us HOW GOd created life, but only that God is the creator, which is most important. God bless.
