Does the evil of the pope qualify him as the anti-christ. He sure has the credentials to qualify. OK. I vote for him.

Veritas gave you a very good answer. The Pope cannot be the Anti-Christ. Here's why.

The Final Deception - The Antichrist (675-676)
Before Christ comes, the Church will pass through a final trial which will shake the faith of many (Lk 18:8). This "mystery of inequity" will be a religious deception offering men a solution to all problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme deception will be the Antichrist, a pseudo-Messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God.

This deception always happens when people claim to gain messianic hope within history, when really it can only come from "beyond history" and through the Final Judgment. The Church has rejected both millenarianism and its political form, secular messianism.

Peace and blessings!

It is written that satan will come pretending to be Jesus. And he will set himself in God's holy temple (in Jerusalem) exalting himself over every thing and every-other god and actually claims to be God. And He will perform miracles in the sight of man. This then will be the anti-christ. Here is a bonus because i like you. You can tell the real Christ from the anti-christ by realizing that when the real christ comes we will all know he is here at the very same time. So if some one has to tell you he is here it is not the real christ. If you have to tell someone else that christ is here it is also the wrong christ.
When the real christ come we will not need the media to know He is here. We will all know it at the very same time. Read Mathew 24 verse 26.

There may not be an anti-Christ right now. We don't know when the things spoken of in Revelations will come to pass. Early Christians thought the predictions would come true in their day but they were wrong.

We could still be thousands of years away from the end. What's important is not dwelling on the end times, but rather doing the will of God each and every day, and growing in holiness.

And Pope Benedict is certainly not the anti-Christ. He is the earthly shepherd of the Catholic Church, and a good and virtuous man. I love my German shepherd!

God bless.

quite simply, no. the pope confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. that's the direct opposite of what the bible defines as AN antichrist.

there is more than one antichrist, by biblical definition, and the book of jude speaks of some of them, the gnostics. there are many antichrists, especially on this site. an antichrist is simply a person who denies the lordship of Christ Jesus. that doesn't necessarily mean he is vengeful about it, though some are. an antichrist could be the nicest person you ever met in your life. for all i know, mr. rogers could have been an antichrist.

THE Antichrist (with a capital ''A'')of the book of revelation is a different story. he will most likely be a politician. if he's around now, he hasn't yet come into political power.

No, the pope is not the Anti-Christ. George Bush is not the Anti-Christ. Hilary Clinton is not the Anti-Christ. And, no, Paris Hilton is not the Anti-Christ either.

People have been asking that for millenia. I don't think the anti-christ is the pope because he doesn't have enough political power. This person also must be born in Rome or at least in the roman empire. This pope is German. I don't know who he is but my guess is he is alive today.

No he isn't the AntiChrist. People who spend too much time trying to decode the book of Revelation should spend more time reading Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The Babylon in Revelation was the old Roman Empire. The church was under persecution when Revelation was written.

No, and I'll tell you why:

The ATF machine-gunned Jesus at his compound in Waco, Texas years ago. They broadcast the entire thing on national television.
Janet Reno was the one who authorized the ATF to do it- it logically follows that Janet Reno is the Anti-Christ does it not?

Not exactly Anti-Christ because the Pope believe that Jesus is the Son of God, however, the mistake of the Pope ab out Jesus Christ is the allowing the making of the image of Jesus Christ which are not true picture of Jesus, yet the Pope and his followers kneel before that graven image of Jesus and worshipping it. It is not the real Jesus Christ whom the Pople is worshipping but the graven image..
