in a poll PC MAGazine did about reliability of computers, MACS were by far the best, most reliable and most recommended over all windows manufacturing companies
Understand that Windows operating systems have now tried to mimic the more stable MAC operating systems.
As far as the components that each of the companies use, i think it is mac who is using the best component manufacturers.
Read the polls, MAC users absolutely love their mac, whereas with windows you have such a widely argued debate about whos the better company.
MAC computers are more stable operating systems.
Now, that doesnt mean if you live in somewhere like North Carolina where the electrical current is always going out and you dont have a surge suprressor that that will play a part in any computers lifespan, but for the most part, if you have the money for a MAC, its well worth it.
Especially with this latest disaster of an operating system with so many bugs in it -- thats WINDOWS VISTA
They will owrk them out eventually -- but MACS already perfected there, but the choice is yours

MAcs are very reliable,I highly recommend them, but they are no less succeptable than a PC to slowdowns because those are usually caused by all the bad stuff we download, not from a hardware problem. Macs are not really inherently less suceptable to viruses than a pc, its more a social thing and a target size thing. As far as breakdowns, depends on the mfgr. Hardware wise (mechanics), a mac is WAY better than an emachines, gatway, acer. probably about as reliable as a dell, hp or levonno, and not mechanically good as a falcoln, xps, alien, voodoo. From the tech support perspective, I'd say the same thing.

I would have to say mac is better hands down. No one sits around to make viruses for them. I myself have windows. I'm very happy with it but, if i had the money to buy a mac i would get one.

Macs break down all the time. They are terrible computers. And when they do break down they cost 10x as much to fix as Windows machines.
