My pittie always gets the squirts whenever we go for a walk. Its getting to be so annoying I don't really want to walk him anymore (Don't worry, I won't *stop*, its good for him *and* me). Is there anything I can to to help him get over his "excitement squirts"? He's 18mos, if that means anything...

I can see how this can be annoying. You did not say how often you take him for a walk. If its only a couple of times a week, start doing it every day. If every day try and take him on more than one walk in a day. He will start realizing that a walk is normal and start calming down. It is more a nervous reaction than anything else, and the only way to get over nervousness is to do the same thing more often until it becomes normal. Good luck.

Your dog has diarrhea, not serious maybe but annoying.
Add some Metamucil or powdered psyllium to his food every day, or mix it with a little milk or gravy or whatever he likes. This will make it so his stools come out formed, not liquid.
This will never cause him to be constipated; it is good for constipation too. Sometimes "squirts" are actually caused by constipation, as the liquid stool tries to work itself around the hard pieces. This should solve your problem unless he has a serious underlying condition.
Bentonite suspension (from a health food store) might work as well. It is a kind of liquid clay and is good for diarrhea and constipation.
Neither of these remedies is toxic.

Is he dribbling along or is he hiking and over-marking spots where other dogs have also peed? If it's the first have him potty and empty his bladder before the walk; if it's the latter it may help to have him altered but it IS something dogs just do, sort of their own grafitti - "I was here - this is MY turf". You may want to have your vet check for a urinary tract infection as well. An 18 month old dog should be able to hold his bladder. Unless it's a dachshund, haha.

do you have a fenced yard or does he only poop on walks? If he poops at home at other times you might want to take a look at that poop too. If he only poops on walks, then you probably have either a nutritional or digestive problem...NOT excitement. Either way your best bet is to take him to your vet. They can do a couple of fairly inexpensive tests and determine is he has an intestinal problem, or if his food is maybe not exactly what he needs. I have a poodle who had basically the same problem, and changing his food solved everything.

I think that maybe your dog is still a pup hes excited to get out. My dog used to be like that and now he goes for walks all the time and hes not as excited as he was when he was young. My dog is 7 by the way, maybe your dog will grow out of it, unless its like a chiwawa or maltese, their just plain always excited.
