I am a licensed psychologist with experience in autism spectrum disorders. Depending on where you live, look for psychologists, psychiatrists or neurologists for testing and a diagnosis. Be aware that psychologists diagnose people differently than psychiatrists or neurologists (who are medical doctors). Psychologists should give you more extensive testing, rather than just a clinical "interview" or consultation. However, the most important thing is that whatever professional you choose has expertise and a background in diagnosing adult autism spectrum disorders (I'm assuming you are an adult). They should also ask about developmental and school history, and talk to a family member if possible. In addition, they should fully explain to you how they came to the diagnosis and what it means for you.
Also, look online or at community support groups for adults with autism spectrum disorders and ask them how they received their diagnoses. You might need to research for awhile to find an appropriate referral. If you live in the state of CA, contact your local Regional Center for testing and further information. Tell them that you want to be tested for autism, they may test you for free.

There is no one test. They look at the cluster of symptoms and see where it fits. I have seen that diagnosis used way too much in the last ten years. I really doubt you are autistic but you need to read up on it and talk to a professional. Who diagnosed you? I have noticed many people on this website misusing the diagnosis.

If you are old enough to be online asking, and have the ability to communicate via Internet, you are likely not autistic, but have Aspberger's. Autism is a loss of social and communication skills which begins around age eighteen months, but those with Aspberger's (called "high functioning autism" by some) function better among people. I would find it highly unlikely that you made it out of toddlerhood without being diagnosed as autistic. It is possible with Aspberger's however, and you would most likely be diagnosed by a psychiatrist.

A neuropsychologist is the specialist who is trained to do this exact evaluation. Not only do they have the training that a psychologist does, they also do a series of testing, interviews, and observations, as well as looking over any pertinent records to clarify the diagnosis.

Iam a clinical psychologist, in my opinion you are not autistic because austistic cannot send questions on net for their problems. what are your symptoms that you think you are asperger write about them. It is better that you consult a psychcologist and have your psyco-dygnosis in the case you you feel any symptoms.

You can schedule an evaluation with a psychiatrist or a psychologist. Both can evaluate you for PDDs (i.e., Pervasive Developmental Disorders).
Best of luck to you,
~M~
