Anytime you vomit blood it's serious. What color is it? Is it black and tarry or red? If it's black it's old blood, possibly from a gastric ulcer perforation. If it's red, it's fresher blood and should be checked immediately. (pink blood is from the lungs btw) The amount of blood simply tells you whether you should call 9-1-1 or not. Don't fool around with blood coming from inside the body (meaning not from an obvious trauma ie. a cut) If you only vomited once, chances are the bleeding has stopped and the stomach is just expelling the contents (our stomach hates blood) but even so...get it checked asap.

If any symptom is scaring you (and this would scare me), get some medical help ASAP! Why take risks?

Some pain-killers (NSAIDS) will cause ulcers in the stomach which bleed, and can even eat a hole through the stomach lining (perforation -- very dangerous), if you take too many in a certain time period. This includes common painkillers such as Asperin and Advil.

If you've been taking a lot of pain-killers for the Crohn's, definitely mention it to your doctor.

God bless.

Very. Why are you still here? It may have nothing to do with Crohn's but you need to know what it is. See the doc ASAP!
