Hello Everyone!

Quick question, I have just adopted a solider through Soldiers Angels and I am creating a list of items for my first care package. I have a good grasp on what to put in the package but I was wondering what size these items should be (travel or full size).
Thank you!!

Hi Cup Cake----I'm also with SA and have sent lots of packages. I'd start with the small, sample size so that if your soldier is mobile he/she won't have to pack around a lot of things. Also, pack the things in plastic, zip-lock bags so that if they leak they don't get all over everything else. The flat rate boxes don't hold alot, so you can give a variety of goodies instead of just a few full sized things, plus it's a lot less expensive that way!

Remember that with the heat things will get melted fast and little things like gum are always welcome and baby wipes to help keep them cooled off and less gritty in between showers.
I hope your soldier isn't a "silent soldier" and will have time to write back to you. Take care and happy angeling!

I would send the travel size items at first to determine if your soldier is one that is constantly mobile. The smaller the things they have to pack the better. You may also want to consider things that do not smell. I know when my husband was TDY, they told him to bring things that are unscented. I guess it makes it easier for the enemy to find you if you smell good??? If they aren't mobile, then I'd send the full size items. Also know, that if they are at certain bases or camps, the AAFES there provides a whole lot of things. But it's always good to not have to spend your own money for things.

you can put both sizes, we like full size to share with everyone, and trial size that if you go on convoy or patrol you can slip it into a pack with you. Please don't send items like chocolate bars- we love them but they don't arrive in good shape. Hard candy is good - they don't melt and we can share. Kool-aid packets are good, magazines, whatever. nothing ever goes to waste and we always share.
Thanks- a lot from all of us

full size is great if possible. They can always use stuff and as much of it as possible.

Whatever you do will be welcome. Your soldier knows his situation and what is best.

Good Job Cupcake
