My parents are the same way. I listen to rap and R&B,and I'm white, and my dad calls me a wigger for it. But actually I dress nothing like a wigger. I do wear baggy jeans, but I like converses and skate shoes, I have shaggy hair and I wear t-shirts from skate stores.
I guess it's just like you probably think a different kinda music sucks. They think your music sucks, and alot of people have said Marilyn Manson's music influenced the columbine shooters, which is total bullshit. They might think it's gonna turn you into a suicidal / homicidal phsycho too. Just talk it over with them. When I got out of rehab, my mom wanted to take away all the music I listened to that had to do with drugs. I talked it over with her, and she let me keep listening to it.

Every generation has its own music, etc. Every generation fights with parents because parents have different ideas about what is good in music, etc.
Respect your parents and their opinions, when you're a parent you'll probably go through the same thing as you and your parents.
I don't like death metal either. Thats me not you.
What I like you probably wouldn't.
Hang in there, music isn't worth fighting over. Life is too short. Enjoy being at home with your parents and enjoy life.
Before you know it your parents will no longer be with you and you will probably have a family of your own and then it will be your turn to determine what your children listen to when it comes to music as well as other decisions.

Well ... its actualli very much normal for parents to behave like this. Cox on their mind they are thinking in their old ways.
In older days.. Metalic music were mostly heard by those who pray to devils..
So that y your parents might be afraid that you are doing so.
So now what you are suppose to do is.. Spak to them and tell them that now the trendy music on everyone's ears is metalic, hip hop, R&B..ect ... U have to make them understand.
IF u never explain to them.. they won;t know my dear..
Have a good talk!

as a parent i can understand why they don't like your music. i really think it has to do with the way they were bought up and they may feel that kind of music may have some sort of influence on you. they are just trying to be good parents.

your parents hate your music because you listen to horrible music. you know what happens to metal heads? nothing metal heads are losers. go get a haircut and pick up a nice alternative cd like the new smashing pumpkins and start making something out of your life. i just hate the sound of wasted youth.

whenever I play
my F*ck playlist
which consist of
Unearth, the autumn offering

It is really beyound worshipping the devil. Its the music is presented to you that interfers with your thought process. Honestly rap has the same effect as well. It give you the wrong signal.
God Bless
