I would say four average adults comfortably - if the back seat passengers are kids or slim adults, then five.

By any law as many as there are seat belts for. The Escape is a 5 passenger vehicle.

ford would like me to tell you 5 passengers, but 4 is more realistic. unless you have skinny people in the back. 4 and a half would be a good answer too, providing the half person was split long ways, and not thru the middle....

4 is no problem. You can get 3 in the back if they are small people. Count on the 4 number, to be sure.
