I bite the dead skin around my nails and all around my fingers. I tried the nasty tasting nail polish stuff like "Thum" and "Bite-It" and it doesnt work. Is there any other way I can make myself stop biting my dead skin?

Regularly use cuticle remover & trim off hang nails each night.

I like OPI's Avoplex Cuticle Remover - it's a cream that you apply & leave on for 5 minutes. Then use a face cloth to rub off loose skin & cuticle build up. Ideally, I'd do this at least once a week, but I forget.

After each shower I use a wash cloth to push back cuticles while they are soft. Then apply a deep conditioning oil like vitamin E oil & a rich hand lotion. This helps in 2 ways: when you bite the skin, you'll taste the lotion & it will keep you hands in better shape so you won't have dry skin to pick at.

I do use a cuticle trimmer each evening to trim off dry hang nails. NEVER cut the live part of the cuticle between the bottom of the nail & skin. http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-give-yourself-a-manicure
