I go to church with my family and go through the motions, but I'm not REALLY a Christian. I just don't see why I should believe in Christianity. I'm not saying I think it's a lie; I want to be a Christian. But I can't find any good reason to truly believe that this 'God' is real. I know the Bible says that God is real, but almost all religions have a book saying that their specific religion is the truth. What makes Christianity different from any other religion ever made? As far as I'm concerned, Christianity is just blind faith. Can anyone give me a reason to believe in Christianity?

I understand the Bible says all these things about Jesus performing mircales and being so divine. But how do you know that it's true? It's only a lot of ink and paper arranged in a clever way. A good persuasive essay, if you will.

Roche- I'm not trying to sound stubborn or ignorant I'm NOT rejecting Christianity- or any other religion. I'm trying to learn, not to prove a point.

And to those of you who say that I first need to start a relationship with God- It's not that simple to just start a relationship with someone you don't even believe exists. You can't have a relationship with anything or anyone unless you truly believe they exist. I need to be able to BELIEVE before I can just start a relationship with God.

You should believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, atonement for sins & Resurrection.
Because Jesus is the Way, Truth & Life.

I am a Christian, and No, I can not give you one single reason why you should believe. If God calls to you, you will know and if you are open to Him, He will come to you. Just going through the motions in itself is not going to do it. A person must have a personal relationship with God. Most religions are preaching religion rather than relationship. God is our creator. Just look around you and realize that regardless of all the hype about evolution or the string theory or whatever, there was a time when something that was only spirit in nature had to begin it all. I call that something...God and I acknowledge His existance. Once I did that, His spirit came to me and has never left me. From my own experience, I can tell you that He is very much like the God of the Bible....and yes...Jesus was sent by Him and is back with Him now. Forget religion and simply open your heart to the possibilities. God will do the rest.

I suppose you're looking for serious answers. I doubt you're going to find any. As the Tao teaches, "when the student is ready, the master will appear." I guess if you're seeking something here, the master hasn't appeared yet.
Well, while you're waiting, here's something to think about. What is a "religion", anyway? I suppose it is a set of principles and beliefs that people hold that teach them what to do because God said to do and believe things a certain way. Okay, now, assuming that God loves us and wants what is best for us, at least as a society if not individually, then what would we expect from a religion? It should be something that works if everyone on the planet behaved the same way.
That's not really an answer, is it. However, it might amuse you to look at different religions and see if it reveals anything. The question is, whether or not the religion works as a model for a society. If it doesn't, that suggests something, doesn't it. If it does, then that also suggests something.

Apparently a lot of christians answering on here are confused so I just wanted to say there in NO evidence proving the bible or that Jesus Christ existed. And for those of you who think there is proof maybe you should look at the facts and not just sprout out what your church tells you. Other then that I agree. Christianity is NOT the true religion. There is no such thing as a "one true religion". Religion was established simply to control mass populations. If in the beginning Rome had chosen muslim instead of christianity we would have all been muslim. All there is to it. There is a higher power out there, but I am not so ignorant and egotistic that I would ever think I could understand him and what he wants for this world.

I'd recommend trying on for size a form of Christianity that is not asking for blind faith and doesn't pretend to take the Bible literally and then ignore the parts it doesn't like and/or cannot take literally. Try some of the recent books by Keith Ward, or perhaps Marcus Borg, depending on where you are coming from. They are very readable.

Christianity is not a religion, it is a way of life. Christianity is not something you choose, it is something you become. One reason to believe in Jesus is because God loved you so, He had Jesus too die for your sins so you would not have to face eternal punishment.
The bible and religion are not the same. Religion is man made; the bible is God inspired.
To believe in Jesus is to have a peace that surpasses all understanding.

The problem is you lack faith and a relationship with God. You have to first come to know God in your prayer life and he will prove himself without a doubt to you. The tough part is having the faith to get it all started and keeping it once you have it. There are many people that dont want you to have it and will cease any opportunity to take it away from you.
While this world is filled with temptation and evil, there is a better way and God can show it to you if you let him and want him to.

You searc h for a true religion that will help you to believe that Christianity is good religion and will help you to be good while living in this earth.
It is highly suggested also that you should read and understand the words of God in the bible to erase your doubt about Christian religion that is existing.

Hi,
My name is Joe, & though I could never convince you to believe as I do in our Lord Jesus Christ, I would like to try to convince you that he is alive in my heart and that he loves you very much.
I can relate with your reasoning as I too struggled to believe when I was growing up and attending church with my family. I asked the same questions. It gives me hope for you, to hear that you are at least reaching out to others with questions of your lack of faith. Not to say that you have none, but that you are at a point where you need answers to be able to move foward.
My hope is that I can at least give you some food for thought for you to ponder on if I cannot convince you that Jesus is our Lord and Savior and that God is real.
I have a website that might help answer the question about God for you. Check it out at www.thesession2k.com click on the homepage link button and look for the hyperlink "Scientific Evidences for Creation." Also please read my testimony as well my friend's testimonies. You will find mine on the homepage under Holyjoe's Testimony hyperlink. Also, please feel free to email me anytime at, admin@thesession2k.com.
Yeoshua bless you!
In Christ,
Joe

Christianity is set apart by its belief in a personal relationship with God, actually communing with God, walking and talking with Him, not just admiration or piety from afar. I don't believe God likes obsequience (being a servant to get something), but honest people with earnest hearts. that's what sets God the Trinity apart.
Blessings!
