I think we disapoint God by staying here and being brought down to the level of fanatics. I don't buy the idea that it's ok because we witness to a few. We are Christians and this is not a Christian site.

Hold on there a second. What is the difference between answering questions on this site and answering questions about Jesus, or God, or the bible, in person? The bible instructs us to have for every man an answer for the hope that is within us. Sure, there are alot of mockers and scoffers on these forums who really have no interest in asking a question and hearing a scriptural answer. But there are others who are truly seeking. There are also Christians who may be confused about something, or need prayer. I came across this verse in psalms the other day, it goes something like, "how joyful it is for a man to give an apt reply". When you read a question, and know the answer from scripture, when you can give it and the person who asked receives it, I find that a very fulfilling way to spend my time.

Dear Friend,
We are not "walking" with the athiests; we are witnessing to them.
It's to be expected that we don't agree. The early Christians travelled over the world, preaching the gospel fearlessly, in spite of the opposition or the outcome.
Should we do less for the Lord Jesus?

I agree that this is not a Christian site, and that the attacks on Christ are many and vicious. All the more reason to stand firm and hold forth the word of life to those who need to hear of Christ and salvation.

There are many people on here that are genuinely searching for Biblical answers about Christ and salvation. We must take Jesus with us everywhere we go - even the Internet.
1 Peter 3:15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

I posted this response under a similar question:

I suggest it's because so many atheists are frustrated about the same monotonous responses Christians hurl at them to justify the existence of God, which ignites a greater passion for Christians to have arguments with them. I think it's silly, as a Christian myself I don't find ways to expound upon the reality of God, because I read my Bible frequently and I am told to avoid godless chatter with others because it can achieve nothing except make ME more ungodly . It's a complete waste of time as far as I'm concerned, because atheists don't sincerely want to hear the truth about our faith, but would rather argue obstreperously about the issue in order to justify the reasons for their lifestyles. But, yes I do pray and hope that Christians learn to just leave them to God.

Thanks for that question! :)

I understand where you're coming from as a Christian, but I disagree. I think if two people disagree, its even more important for them to walk together. Think about C.S Lewis and G.K Chesterton - two of the most prominent Christian apologetics. They constantly engaged in theological dialogue with the naysayers of their time, and the results were usually profound. Now, I'm not comparing the quality of interraction on Yahoo Answers to the quality of interraction between professional writers and thinkers, but sometimes, in answering questions from people from all kinds of backgrounds, you learn something important about yourself and your beliefs. Christians don't have to limit their interractions to those that agree with them about everything.

I have a Christian site that hardly anyone is on:

http://www.christianworldforum.com

Not only that, today's atheist is tomorrow's Christian. We should not write anyone off as unteachable. This life is a chance to convert and be forgiven until the day you die.

Matthew 9:10 And as Jesus reclined at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were reclining with Jesus and his disciples. 11 And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?" 12 But when he heard it, he said, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 Go and learn what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.' For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners."

i think if one person gets anything out of what you have to say,you have done what GOD wants you to do. none of us are going to disappoint GOD by doing his will.why would you want to witness to someone that's already a christian.back in the day ,JESUS hung out with sinners,to tell them about GOD. sometimes you have to get on a different level to understand what the deal is.

I must disagree. This is where people have the guts to ask tough questions. The type of questions that would get you asked to leave most churches. I guess the old saying is true. if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen...
