You should think more long term about your weight loss than short term. Within a month you should notice some differences if u lose weight in a healthy way (diet and excercise), however unless gong on a diet which is bad for you (skipping meals, taking stimulants such as speed or ephidren), you will not lose a very noticeable amount. The begining of a change in diet and excercise is often the toughest part, so slowly move up from your 1 hour workout sessions to 1:15, the 1:30, etc.

As for foods you should eat, you should lower saturated fat intake, and consume protein with every meal to limit your hunger in between meals, also try and eat smaller meals with healthy snacks in between (Cereal, fruits/vegies)

Knock off the soda. It's just ADDING weight. Not taking it away.

You don't have to suddenly eat just LOW FAT/LOW CALORIE things in order to lose weight. That's just robbing your body of necessary nutrients.

Just eat in moderation, reduce your caloric intake by 10% each day, and try to eat less junk food if you can.

Realistically, you can lose up to 6 to 10 pounds a month--depending on your level of exercise and food intake.

Just remember: The more you work out, the more food that will be required to fuel your body. The less you work out, the less food you need to eat to sustain yourself.

Muscle adds mass to your body. So you'll weigh a bit more as a result.

Try push ups instead of situps. Do about 200 a week to start and see what that does. (I'm still experimenting with that angle, and I've been finding that my stomach is shrinking down a bit instead of expanding like it does when I do situps.)

Well for your 1st question, you can eat yolplait yogurt. It's delicious and if you eat the light containers thy are only 100 calories. You can also eat the bags with the thin cookies, also only 100 calories per pack.

For your 2nd question, you can lose anywhere from 1-4 pounds a week, based on your diet plan. So depending on how many pounds you are losing a week, and how many more weeks until you are going on your trip. I would estimate you could lose about 8 pounds in a month, though,

Good Luck!

Completely cut out fried foods and refined sugars. Eat only fresh (preferably organic) fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Look on your nutrition labels - if it has over 2g of "sugar" per serving, it is not good for you!

I recommend low-fat, no-sugar added yogurt and oatmeal, along with fresh fruit for breakfasts. For lunch look to have a lot of vegetables - maybe a salad and a small turkey sandwich on whole grain bread (low on the sauces!!!). For dinner, try to eat slowly and have smaller portions of food (lean fish and chicken are great protein choices). Also look for whole grain pastas, and avoid any heavy cream sauces.

Cut out soda completely, but if absolutely necessary due to caffiene addiction limit your intake to 1 can per day.

Also go to the gym an additional day or two per week if you really want to see results. Include strength training into your workouts, and eat 5-6 small meals a day to keep your blood sugar and metabolism raised instead of 3 large meals.

In a month, you can realistically look at losing between 5-10 pounds, but it depends on how much you already weigh, your current metabolism, and how dedicated you are to truly changing your body.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

i would try some fruits and veggies as snacks. they are low in calories, are good for you and taste good too! you could also try those 100 calorie packs. they aren't that bad.

maybe you could walk the other days you don't go to the gym.

try to cut the soda out...it will help!

i just started dieting and i've recently got addicted to www.fitday.com It tracks everything you eat for you, as well as your activities so you can see what you are burning!
