Hi network member!

Your friend may have to change her IP settings. Right click "My network places" and click "properties". Do you see "Local area network" or "Wireless network"? If yes, that means only a IP setting is required. (If NO, is addressed later)

Right click on LAN (or wireless, as case may be), right click properties. You will see IP, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS. You will have to call your ISP provider to get these values.

If you don't see a LAN or Wireless, it means your modem is not recognized. You may have to install the drivers form the modem CD.

If this doesn't solve your problem, update your question with your findigns. And the we will be able to help.

If you have XP internet explorer should be standard. But if you don't have it you could download different internet browser installers from another computer, then save it onto a flash drive. Plug the flash drive into your friends computer and launch the installer and voila!
