I need to recharge my coolant on my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500, but am not sure where the LOW pressure a/c service valve is. The instructions say the quick connect from the can will only fit on the low, the only valve I see has a black dust cap with an "H" (for high?) on the front left (passenger side) just behind the headlight right up on top. The quick connect doesnt feel or look like it will fit on this, so I don't want to force it. I have read that the low may be under the dash, but I don't see it. Anyone know FOR CERTAIN on a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 V-6 where it is? I'd appreciate it.

The low side a/c port is located on the a/c line right next to the accumulator. The accumulator is on the right side of the engine compartment (pass side), usually black and looks like a can. It also has an electrical sensor screwed into the top of it. Follow the line from the accumulator towards the front of the engine. The port is only a few inches from the accumulator and is on the side of the line pointing at the engine.

The vehicle speed sensors are located on the output shaft of the transfer case and another on the output shaft of the transmission.. There are 3 for the ABS. One is on the differential, the others are on each front hub. An inoperative VSS will cause shifting problems as the computer doesn't know how fast you are going. I would first try disconnecting the sensors and cleaning the connections first. If cleaning solves the problem, or if you have to replace the sensors, be sure to coat the connections with dielectric grease to keep out moisture.

here is the low down.............the low side/suction is coming from the inside of the car.......ok so look for the large ac hose that goes into the compressor and go back towards the cab. you can also look to see the line that goes into the cab. it could be there. if i remember it was right there at the compressor but its been a while.....and yes H =high and DO NOT hook it up there or you WILL be holding a grenade

The thing that everyone has failed to mention is if you need freon you have a leak, and if you have a leak and the system has atmosphere in it just putting freon in it could cause some very expensive problems, slap a set of gauges on it and make sure it has some in it or don't put any freon in it untill you have the leak fixed or vacuum the system down to -30lb. for a half hour then put the freon in!

follow the lines coming from the compressor - the hose will only fit on one connection - do not try to force it on to where it does not fit. don't forget to add 1 can of pag oil to keep things moving freely.
