No ! Winamp is safe and one of the best media players around ! I use it for playing my media files and haven't had any problems with it for the 2 years that I've been using it.

Absolutely. It's a moderatley versatile player. It plays mp3, wma and wav format music and avi or mpg movies, will also play DVDs and CDs. It can display album art for music, if it's available, It can burn audio CDs, save favorite playlists, let you see whst music is stored on your computer, sync music to various mp3 players, like the Zune.

its a good media player but it is open source and it can be hacked. even the pro series has bugs in it. so if your no connecting to the internet with the computer go ahead. but of you are i would recomend windows media player or i tunes.
