because people pick and chose what is convenient to them, i too am catholic but i am not religious, i have my own relationship with God and that is all that matters to me.

God is good, and you interpret this any way you can. You're free to even think that God isn't good, but then if you thought that you wouldn't really consider yourself to be religious. So the bottom line is that everyone has their own interpretation of religion. What does it mean for you?
For me, God is good, means that no matter what happens in life, there is a reason for that to happen, as well as some kind of light at the end of the tunnel. Anything wrong or bad that happens has to have a resolution, a calming after the initial ripple. Faith, for me I guess, means that you have to stay strong and survive the initial ripples and crashing waves, and wait it out until the water calms again.

The Word of God has been interpreted by mankind in very different ways. As if that weren't enough, some have claimed to have additional information essentially hand delivered (Mormons). All of this results in people disagreeing and leaving the parent church to form one of their own. Many protestant denominations today owe their beginnings to the Reformation, which was when a lot of people left the Catholic church.

I believe that God and religion itself is just something created by "man" to explain the unexplainable. In the past there were Gods of rain, fire and so on; we can explain those now. Some religions used to say that women didn't have a soul, etc. I do believe in a supreme power (call it what you like) but it comes from inside and not from some religion, book or what not.

different people interpret the Bible differently. Mormons follow a man and have a completly different Bible. And the rest have the same Bible all worded slightly differently. I think the only thing to do is find one you agree with, follow the teachings of Jehova and be the best you can. Study the Bible and be a good person.

Different sects applying there own interpretations on the old books. Same goes for Islam, Hinduism, Judaism etc.
Not everyone believes there is only one god, some don't believe there are any, some believe there are many.
Believe what you will Garfield, just don't fall in to the trap of denying others to believe as they will.
Peace.

Because people always have to believe in different things and since we are humans, we cannot agree in anything. For example, I am Christian and you are Catholic, and you probably believe that your religion is the right religion, but I believe that my religion is the right one. Anyways, many other religions do not believe in God, but they have their own gods. And for the people that do believe in God, its just a matter of different religions and different points of views.

Yes, religion is very confusing. What you need to do is go to different churches and learn a lot about them. Then you need to pray to God to find out which ones you think make the most sense to you or if you feel the spirit mostly there. Every religion has different aspects of God. Find out which ones make sense to you.

Because there are people who existed on this planet many centuries before Christianity came into being. Hindus, Buddhists, the Mayan culture, the Egyptian culture, etc, etc.
Btw, Mormons aren't really Christians in the classic sense.

ever read the parable of the mustard seed (not the faith one, the tree one). people let outward interferences and their own ideologies (birds) into the kingdom and thus, the truth becomes harder to find.
personally, I believe we all have something to learn from eachother and that no one's 100% right. some are obviously far off, some are just Christian by name and not practice, and some.... you just don't know what they're doing here. but of course, a tree is known by its fruit (not necessarily number of members, not necessarily monetary balance, not necessarily public favor... but atleast exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit).
God didn't want us to be independant of Him or far from eachother. so I may not believe the same thing as say a 7 day or Baptist, but if they are saved, then they are God's children and I can get along with them and agree to disagree.
that help?

Christ was the first christian and he nominated peter to be the first pope to carry on and preach his gospels, some people say catholics are not christian, but then all the other christian religions are break aways from these first Christians, all of them had different reasons you can read up on each to find their reasons.
