There were people living on earth thousands of years before Christ was ever born. The person who is ignorant, vicious and spiteful enough to have said that is a lot likely to end up there him/herself.
You can't really argue with ignorance, just feel sorry for someone who would say such a thing, and move on and live your life in the best way you see fit.

We all have to stand before God someday and give an account.
If Ghandi did not know the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, then the Lord will say, away, for I never knew you!
Everyone has the opportunity to put this matter right with God in their lifetime. For all have sinned and fallen short of God's standard.
Repent and believe the Gospel, while there is still time.

Gandhi? Christ-like? on here they say he said "I like this Jesus, but not Christians". ahem? Christ loved the church. Jesus said He is the only way, Gandhi said all religions point to God. ahem? Gandhi? Christ-like? no.
but the thing is those who reject Christ die in sin and can't go to Heaven because God can not have sin in His presense and you've reached your final state at death, so you can't change. so unless Gandhi never read the Bible and accepted Christ as Lord and savior on his deathbed, there's a 99% chance that he's not in Heaven. rejecting Christ as Lord and Savior is the sin that gets you Hell.

Gandhi may have been a good person compared to others, but nonetheless a good deed does not cancel out a bad deed. Everyone needs redemption from their sins and sanctification. Only Christ can redeem us from our sins, and only through the Holy Spirit can we find true sanctification. Merely being good, or merely professing to be a Christian, is not enough. You need redemption and sanctification.

That's why God describes Himself as "Merciful" and "Forgiving"...
Just because Gandhi was a good man, it doesn't mean he was right.
God will judge everyone according to their deeds and their belief in Him, there will be no escape from this...
For all I know, Gandhi may end up in Heaven because of God's mercy on him (and other people), and may not be because of any merits Gandhi provides...

And I heard that if you forward a pathetic email about a sick kid, Bill Gates will donate $5 for each email forwarded.
Level of truth - about the same.
No one in the Catholic Church has EVER said that any specific individual is in hell. God's mercy is beyond our understanding - so to say that so and so is or will be in hell is, in my opinion, just silly.

How would anyone know if he's burning in hell unless they paid him a visit. The person who said is an idiot.
