I wouldn't go cold-turkey. I had A seizure the day after from doing that, and I NEVER had A seizure in my life and NEVER took any other medication. Start by taking 1 every 4, then take 1 every 6 hours and so on. DO NOT go cold turkey. I was given methadone to stop, and NOW im addicted to that. Its funny they give you drugs to get off drugs but then you get addicted to something differen't. Please be carefull.

reduce 5% every 4 days, if you find you cannot do it on your own have some hold the pills, if that fails then see professionals. i encourage you to stop now on your own if not you will be in the rehab circle. most professionals will want you to go to rehab, a 12 step program, suboxone program , counseling. some or all of those, just quit, taper as low as you can go and stop and deal with the withdrawals, they will end. you need to be committed because if your not nothing will work. write down all the downsides opiates have caused you, read them daily and when you finally stop read them when u get cravings

You have a problem then. I have been there so I know what you are saying. The only way to stop taking them is...to stop. There is no real good taper off method. It will be rough for about a week but then you will notice the withdrawal symptoms have suddenly stopped.

Here's what I did. For about two months I would stop taking them at the end of the month (cold turkey) for at least a week. This is how I discovered what the withdrawal symptoms would be. Frankly, the worst was what I call 'cold, restless joints.' My left shoulder and usually left leg (though the others would also chime in with their two cents worth) didn't hurt so much as feel very cold and restless. So much so that I could not sleep at night (I only felt it at night for some reason) so I just slept during the day. I also experienced some abdominal cramps but nothing too serious. It took about 4-5 days before the symptoms stopped totally. After preparing myself for what lay ahead, I told my family it was time..and then I stopped. For a week I was edgy and frankly scared knowing the pain would soon be back, but it was time to get off those pills.

If you aren't ready to take that plunge, then simply stop taking every 4 hours. Only allow yourself one every six, making sure you leave one for just before bedtime. It will not be easy but getting off narcotics never is. No matter what you do, you will have withdrawal symptoms, just stay strong and end it. I've been off them now for almost 3 years, and every day when the pain flares up I want to go back on them, but I refuse to ask the Doc. As good as those pills are for pain control, they can and will fool you into depending on them. I don't like depending on pills, do you?

Good luck, and know you are not alone.

Try Subutex or Suboxone

that is a lot! You need to be careful bc there is a risk of severe complications as you detox. You need to not listen to anyone on-line. You need to talk to a doctor who can monitor you
