Just found a tick on the back of my thigh, may have been there for 24-48 hours. I removed it and it burns like hell. Any chance that this is normal ? On a scale of 1-10 in that small area that it bit, I'd say 7 with strong consistency, not that on/off pain.

Get to your doctor's office ASAP, regardless of whether or not you saved the pieces of the tick. You'll need a prescription for an antibiotic called doxycycline. It will work to prevent you from getting Lyme's Disease.

Ticks are horrible creatures. They live just about everywhere and if you have animals around, you will surely find ticks. They even hibernate during winter and come back out when the climate changes. (too much information) anyway, if you found the tick and do not know whether you removed the complete tick I would be concerned. Either way, I feel that it would be to your best advantage to visit the doctor and have antibiotics to take. Also, a Lyme titer would also be a good idea. A tick bite is going to itch even after it has been removed. It will more than likely be painful and have a reddened circle on your thigh. The doctor could either reccommend something for itching and pain. Try not to scratch. The most dreaded tick around is probably a deer tick. It has somewhat of a pointed head and a white spot on it's back. If you are going into a wooded area or an area of high grass, try using a repellant. Wear long pants and be sure to spray them also. After an outing it would help considerably to shower as soon as you get it. The tiny ticks, refferred to as seed ticks are tiny and difficult to see. Benadryl cream or some type of cortizone with pain relief might help. I would highly state again to have your doctor check it out. If you have symptoms of joint pain, headache, fatique, or develop a rash, definitely see your doctor for procautionary measures. Lyme disease will cause arthritis and more joint pain. That is why he may want you on antibiotics as some of your other readers have warned,

If the tick was brown, then it's a regular tick. If it was almost too small to see, then it may have been a deer tick.
Since it may have been there for 24-48 hours, it probably attached itself to your skin pretty well. They are hard to get off. Did you get the WHOLE TICK off, head and all?
It may be burning because your skin is irritated. I would think it would be itching too. If so, put some over the counter cortisone cream on it. There are other creams that can be put on it to stop the itching. Maybe it'll stop the burning too.
If you start to see a red circle around the bite, GET TO A DOCTOR.
I hope everything works out well with you.

not normal at all. If you can go to see a doctor immediately. If not wait until tomorrow and see the doctor(go even if you don't have an appointment explain to the head nurse what happened let her tell the doctor and ask if there is any way at all that you can be worked in even if it takes all day get there at opening time)please let someone know what you have found(the tick)and how you are feeling and ask them to check on you tonight and tomorrow(to make sure you are okay)get to the doctor and get it checked out. The reason I say this is there is always a chance that you may have cotracted something in the blood stream and the 2 things I am thinking of here are rocky mountain spotted fever or lyme diease. So dude get it checked out(if you know of someone who is a nurse or emt ask them and get some more info)hope you feel better soon

Did you just pull it out without getting the head? If the head is buried inside your leg you need to take care of that. I have never known them to hurt that much, more of an irritation, so no that much pain is not normal.

Keep an eye on it. watch for bulls eye rash not everyone will get one. Also for the next month they say to watch for symptoms. Fatigue, fever, joint pain. flu like symptoms or a rash anywhere on your body. If u get any go to the Dr. and insist on getting tested for Lyme's. not all Dr. will give u a test. some like to dismiss ur symptoms for something else. good luck.

Go to your doctor, they can tell you if you've gotten it all out. Take the tick if you still have it. Do not apply anti-septic to it, if you want flush it with saline.
