If god can manifest himself as a burning bush and speak to biblical characters and send angels to others, it wouldn't be that hard for him to prove his own existence.
Why wouldn't a loving God who wants us to believe (and who will punish us if we don't) not just perform one simple miricle accesible to every person on the planet to prove his existence?
I mean I would only need one solid, unequivocal miracle to convert. Part the Red Sea again - it can't be that hard.

The problem with the way that many people view atheism is that they label it as a religion. The truth is that atheism is a huge bubble of ideas, possibly as diverse as all the major religions put together.
When talking about this, it's extremely important to phrase words correctly. "I do not believe in God" is totally different to "I believe there is no God".
Personally I am of the opinion that there is a possibility of some sort of higher power which could be called 'God'. However, the entire concept of our 'God' doesn't sit pretty with me, since it's been conceived by human minds and reiterated by many different societies over the ages. Therefore, the question of the existence of God is irrelevant because the question is not defined. To put it in crude terms: I don't care if God exists because it has no effect on my life, and therefore to worship it would be pointless. This belief of mine can be described as Atheism, but is Ignostism to be precise.
Not only does my view put forward my reasons for being an Atheist, it actually answers your question. The reason I'm an Atheist is because I can't understand what God means. And that flips your question on its head. Which actually is a very clever answer, and quite ouroborus of me.
The plural of atheist is atheists, and God is spelt with one d.

Before this so called god there was life, before religion there was life, with all the problems wars disagreements why bother..... I would rather live a peaceful life on earth beleive I die when I'm done than waste a life running after some invisible (imaginary) god's instruction.... If I were him I would come up with a better plan than religion it's failing the human race... and failure is not something that i want to follow.

I myself am an atheist and I don't believe in God because I see it as something (or someone) that doesn't exist. The same reason Islams aren't Roman Catholics. We all believe what we want to believe. I as an athiest believe I'm here and alive. As long as I'm healthy may as well enjoy life. I only have 80 years!
P.S. I became an atheist at 12 years old and it was hard for me. My mom took me to see the Pastor and everything.

It's hard for Christians to understand it, too. But, I do believe it's not that they don't understand the concept of Deity vs. man, but rather because they don't want anyone or anyOne to be in charge of their life. I've come to conclude they want to be the "god" of their own lives. It makes the most sense to me. The pride of life, the original sin, is at the root, I think. They worship their own intellect and abilities, and in the process have no room for another guide. At least that's what I think the problem and the draw is for them. I don't think any of them really, truly, down deep inside, doesn't realize that there is a God.

Actually, I don't believe in God because of the lack of evidence, not the lack of a piece of conclusive proof. I don't care about 100% proof. I want 51% evidence - something that will demonstrate to me that the existance of a supernatural being is the most rational explanation.

No one has ever proved that God really exists, also Christianity began so long ago, it began when you would be killed if you didn't believe in a God.
It's also kind of silly thinking there's an invisible guy in the sky that judges your rights/wrongs after you die. He's really not that different from Zeus is he?

Unless you're creating a new one to follow, "God" has one "d" in it.
This is the same argument we hear time and time again whenever asking for the proof we're supposedly too blind to see: That God is beyond our comprehension, and that's why it requires faith to believe in Him. Interesting how the proof is that there is no proof. I've been scratching my head over that one for so long, I do believe I'm getting a bald spot.

Most atheists know exactly what is meant by God...we don't believe in anything supernatural and the concept of God is included in that.
