Of course that you need to talk to your boss, 'cause he is in fault 2 times...first, for pay you in cash and not deduce the mandatory taxes, and second, for pay you less than the minimum wage...
good luck!!!

State law determines what minimum wage is and if you are not being paid that amount, your employer is in violation and you should contact the labor board. However, if you are being paid cash it is possible that you are being paid "under the table," and if this is the case, you are being paid less because you are receiving cash and not being taxed on those dollars nor is your employer reporting that cash amount to the IRS. (which is illegal)

If you're getting paid cash, you're actually in reality making more because you are not getting taxed.
This might seem like a good idea, but it's not. Your boss is doing things on an illegitimate basis. If you can't get a paycheck from this company, you shouldn't be working there.

If he's paying you cash, he's not withholding any taxes and he's not paying any payroll taxes on your salary. You are also probably not covered by worker's comp insurance. If you get hurt on the job, you're out of luck. Certain jobs, such as servers in restaurants, are not required to earn minimum wage, because the labor department feels their tip income makes up for it.

If you're getting paid cash, you and your boss are most likely trying to evade taxes, so you're setting yourself up for being in major trouble if and when you get caught. He's figuring he can pay you less than minimum because you are evading taxes.
Either talk to him or find a legal job.

I think it depends what you do. Like waitresses get tips too, for example, so employers are allowed to pay them less or something.
