If you are going to be a leader, you have to understand that accountability is more than making sure that you are responsible for yourself. When placed in leadership positions, you have to account for everyone else on your team. When you make assignments and they don't get done - "you" are going to be held accountable in the end. You have to ensure that the people you 'hire' or select are able to do their jobs because they 'understand' the nature of their jobs and have sufficient information to follow through. Accountability also means that you are checking on each sub-leader to ensure that the work is being done and to everyone (especially yours) satisfaction. You have to 'account' for attitudes, indecisions, upset people, the school admins, and possibly others. Your role is a large one and if you are a person who is friendly, likeable, a mediator, organized, timely, the people you work with will love you. One final point - always give credit to those who work hard - offer compliments and smiles - and when you need to get folks in order - don't hesitate to 'constructively' help. Good luck to you!

Accountability is when you have someone (a friend) who keeps you in check and keeps you on the right track. Like if you have an "accountability partner" then you have someone who you can look to for advice and who keeps you "accountable" for your actions.
