Yogurt is a weird dairy, but is a dairy product nevertheless. If you're lactose intolerant, you can handle it since it's essentially partially digested milk. Soy yogurt would be an exception.

yes. Yogurt is made from milk. Milk comes from a cow. If it comes from a cow and isn't meat, its dairy. It contains a special culture of bacteria that flavor it and make it thick. When you make yogurt, it must be kept at about 90 degrees F and have a little bit of live yogurt added to it to start out the culture of bacteria. Fruit flavored yogurt does not have enough fruit to be in the fruit group. It is a good source of calcium and other nutrients found in milk.

I treated myself to a couple of containers of Amande almond yogurt recently, and I enjoyed them. The texture is a bit thicker than soy or coconut yogurt. The liquid separates a bit, as I recall is similar to dairy yogurt, but you can stir it together. I always feel guilty buying these little yogurts because of all the disposable plastics, though, so it's a fairly rare splurge for me. I'd like to learn how to make my own almond yogurt.

Despite people's opinions, it all comes down to your own personal taste. Every company that makes that product thinks theirs is the best, so I suggest splurging on one container of each kind at Whole Foods and other stores - try as many different brands as you can - and then decide what's best based on your own opinion.
