It wasn't just about dying. Jesus completed what is called the Atonement. I don't claim to have a complete understanding of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, but I have been given some.
Imagine if someone commits a crime against someone else and they are brought before a judge. The criminal feels guilt and the victim is angry. The judge will hopefully choose an appropriate punishment that will make both the victim and criminal feel that justice has been done. This will get rid of the criminal's guilt and the victims anger. Unfortunately complete restitution for many crimes is impossible and judges aren't able to fully understand the hearts of the criminal and the victim to fully resolve the issue.
Jesus Christ through the Atonement somehow experienced the depths of human suffering whether as a victim or a criminal. This qualifies him as the perfect judge. By having the faith to turn all judgment over to him (forgiving others) and changing our lives (repenting), both criminal and victim can be free of the effects of sin. This miracle of combining perfect justice with perfect mercy is the Atonement.

Dookie - Neither you or your friends will "get it" if you are not aware that you are sinners. I am sure you have heard some people speak of the "wrath of God"...in the Old Testament, God was an angry God, a jealous God and his people were stubborn and prone to war on others and break commandments (this does not make them BAD).
God sent Jesus to us to live among us as a human, not a rich wealthy king, but a mere human. When he died, he took with him the sins of humans. The price was high, he was the blood of the lamb, which means the sacrifice as was made by the Jewish people for their sins. Now, we live in a state of grace and God can be a God of love as we were taught by the words of Jesus.
Do I expect you to understand that...no...but others will have no problem!!!

Adam was perfect, when he ate the fruit that was given to him by Eve, sin entered the world. In order to make up for this God required a sacrifice of a another perfect man to atoin for the mistake. Till that perfect man came to earth then the Jews would sacrifice a lamb to cover but not forgive thier sins. When Jesus who was perfect volunteered to be sacrificed he was attoining for the sins of the human race since the beginning of time to the end of time, whether you believe it or not He died for everybody so that who ever believes this statement then at the final judgement day, God will credit His sacrifice to your account and all will be forgiven, otherwise you one day will pay for your own sins and that means hell for an enternity.

1. We are all sinners through inheritance from Adam through every generation until the present and future generations.
2. Because we are sinful by nature, we are unfit to be in the presence of a Holy and Pure God even though He loves us and is willing to forgive us.
3. In the Old Testament the people would offer a sin offering to the priests as a sacrifice to cover their sin, but they had no full forgiveness and the sacrifices had to take place over and over and over again.
4. In the New Testament, God came down to us in the form of a man with a specific purpose to live and die as a man but a man without sin. Christ was that man and the only perfect person that ever lived on earth. He came specifically to die as a sacrifice that would cover sin once and for all time. He resurrected from the dead and the Bible says He ever lives to intercede (act as a go between) for us to the Father.
5. When we realize that we are sinners, and we are sorry for our sins with all our heart, and we come to God and ask Him to forgive us for our sins, God cleanses us through the blood shed for us on Calvary and we become His children. The Bible says, "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things have passed away, behold all things become new. It is
a whole new realm of existence. Our sins are erased as if they never existed and we are given a clean slate.
6. As Christians thankful for this great mercy given to us by a loving and merciful God, we rejoice in the chance to love and serve God through the remainder of this life, and we look forward with excitement and anticipation to eternal life with Him in a place where there is no more sin, sickness, sorrow, pain or death. A place of wonderful joy and love and peace!

It means that we are all sinners and that we deserve to all burn in a devils hell, but Jesus with His mercy and love went to the Cross and died that we don't have to. Now all you must do is except Him as your Lord, Savior, and Master and you are guaranteed a Home in Glory. Roman 10:9-13, and John 3:16. Just read the Book.

When Adam ate of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, he was cursed by God and expelled from Eden. All who came after that act were also cursed from birth. There was only one way God would reconcile mankind to Himself and that was by the blood sacrifice of a perfect human. Since God was Jesus's father he was not cursed from birth and the only one who could qualify to take the sin of the world onto Himself and die as a propitiation for that sin. The Crucifixion was a hideous form of torture devised by the Romans who occupied that region. It was used when they wanted to make an example of and demean the person convicted of certain crimes so as to dissuade others from repeating the behavior. As a result, you and I can have our sins forgiven and stand before God at the judgment and be saved from eternal punishment. Those who reject Christ cannot receive salvation and will go to hell with the devil for eternity. That's why its SO important!!!

Hello first lets get who Jesus really is, in Hebrews 13:8 we understand Jesus has always been in all time past and presant and will be in the future, in John 8:58 He is The I AM of Exodus 3, Moses and the burning bush, in John 1 we understand He is the one that was the that was the active member of The Godhead that created us and this world, when mankind sinned they as it were pulled the plug on life, however satan had not at that time been unmasked, many of the angles loyal to God had questions about all of this remember a full one third of the angles believed satan's lies and left heaven so satan had to be unmasked, and that was done at Calvary plus the wadges or natural results of sin is death and that has to be paid, you can either accept the "conditions" upon which life is offered or you must as it says in Rev.20:6, 21:8 die forever [the "effects" not the burning is forever those verses speak of the second DEATH] so now you must understand the conditions of life and there in a free bible lessons set at www.amazingfacts.org talk to me also wgr88@yahoo.com God bless

God's word (the Bible) says that we all fall short of God's glory and we can not therefore earn our way into His Kingdom. We are all sinners, it's our default state.
Our sin has already been judged by God and everything sinful will be subject to destruction. God sent his Son, Jesus Christ into this world to take upon Himself the judgement for all mankinds sins, so that we would not have to suffer the consequences of that sin.
So if we do not accept His free gift of salvation then we by default have already made the choice to rely on our own goodness. Our goodness will fail every single one of us, so we need to have our sins covered by the 'Blood of Jesus' if we are to be eternally in His Kingdom.
Jesus who had no sin took our punishment upon Himself so we would not have to.

Read Genesis 3:15. Read Isaiah 53.
Jesus told his disciples that when He Is lifted up, He will draw many to HIm. This was signifying how He was going to die.
Jesus is the promised seed of the Woman to defeat the serpent & death for us. He was tempted like the first Adam yet didn't sin. See, the rest of us have the sin nature, have sinned & all physically die & turn to dust.
So, as a sinless man, was falsely accused & shed His blood on the cross for remission of our sins. Because He Is without sin. Death can't keep Him in the grave.
Without the shedding of blood, there is no remissin of sin. Jesus is the Lamb of God without blemish.
Jesus raise from the dead for us & we who receive His Atonement for our sins will raise up like He Is on redemption day complete.

Since Adam & Eve sinned, all of their offspring were born with inherited sin & death..."Through one man (Adam) sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned". Romans 5:12. No matter how uprightly we may live, all of us are sinners from birth. There is no way that we can earn the right to live forever...The wages sin pays is death. Romans 6:23....Jesus had to die because he was a perfect human on earth. Since Adam was perfect, Jesus was the only one that could give his life as a ransom for us...a perfect life for a perfect life...Jesus gave his life so that those excercising faith in the ransom have a hope of everlasting life...being born of sin is being born of imperfections, not perfect...illus. like a bread pan that has a dent in it, every loaf of bread made is gonna have that indention in it because of the imperfection of the pan...that is us, we are born of the sin of Adam, but he didnt have a chance or a hope, we do because Jesus gave his perfect life in exchange for us...hope i helped
