The bible describes hell as sheol and hades, both of which mean gravedom or death. So you are right in that death is death. For now. But when Christ returns then those who are dead but born again of God shall rise from their graves, and tohse who are alive and born again of god shall be transformed and all shall meet christ in the air. Then shall come the last days and the eventual destruction of this, the second heavens and earth. And then shall come a resurrection of the just and unjust and judgment of all those who are not exempt from judgement and then, in the very end, death shall be destroyed. (shortened version due to time and space requirements).

Death is the Oblivion from which we came and to which we will return.
The fact of the matter is that given the amount of time that the universe has existed and will continue to exist after we leave this human coil, Life is not the norm - Non existence is, so embrace it when it comes as a return to the norm.

because in a way it's really not death, it's not "the end" as some people tend to believe. your spirit lives on and continues to learn, but your life on earth is over, so it's just a physical death, not a spiritual death.

I actually have a fear of death. It would be nice if you could see heaven before you go. Then you could accept death.

I guess people do accept it, but in their own meaningful way, but how can one truly know what death is, until we individually experience it.
I hope there is more to it than just death, but i suppose i will have to wait and see...

Why should they - I tend to accept very little for just what it "seems". I don't know what happens after death and neither do you.

simple answer is FEAR people are afraid that after they are dead that, THATS IT.

that everything comes to a completion after you die. most people have a hard time coping with that. remember science is EVIL. science says that we just decompose in the ground. and the cycle of life and the food chain continues.

people have an ego! people dont want to except that we go from the top of the food chain then back to the bottom of it. so instead saying that we go to "heaven" is more acceptable.
