losing your girlfriend was very difficult. You now fear the same thing happening again. There are many psychological processes that cause us to repeat or re-live bad experiences, such as post traumatic stress disorder and repetition compulsion which by repeating or re-experiencing the bad event is an attempt to help us to master it. I think that you need to talk about your experience of having lost your girlfriend and get it off your chest. You say that you cannot remember and that is a defense mechanism when things get too heavy to handle. You need to remember and to express feelings; sadness; fear; guilt; rage. If you cannot talk about it then you can write about it and/or think about it. When it is in the open, you will be less likely to dream about losing someone else. You survived losing your girlfriend and God forbid if someone else passed on, you would survive that too. Don't try to be over-protective and don't worry about being too close, unless you are dependent on others for your own well-being and let your whole life revolve around them. Reassure yourself before bed that your friends are just fine. Think about good times with them before you fall asleep.

I would think that the trauma from your girlfriend's death has actually caused these dreams. Emotional stress plays with the subconcious mind and it's not uncommon for it to send you messages through your dreams. The link between your former dreams and her death, while maybe not coincidence, were a past happening that you experienced. I believe that these dreams are probably a result from that experience and not directly linked to any future situation (ie the death of your friends). As far as "help" goes, talking/thinking things out with yourself is often times a good start. However, if you don't feel that this is enough, and it still troubles you, seeing a Psychiatrist maybe in your best interest. Not because of insanity mind you, but since talking it out with your best friends clearly would not be all that easy, and if talking to yourself doesn't seem to satisfy you, and you need someone to talk to... it seems that a psychiatrist might be a good solution. In any case, I wish you luck, and don't wear yourself down over it. Try some soothing methods before sleeping, like soft music, a warm beverage, and pleasant thoughts. If you automatically assume you will have these nightmares, chances are, you will.

I believe that our dreams reflect thinks that we perceive in our subconscious. Dying represents some sort of major upheaval or change. Not knowing the situation with the girlfriend that passed, I do not know if there were some major changes going on that happened to coincide with her death. Is there some major change going on in your relationship with your best friend? Do you see any self-destructive behaviors or people surrounding this person? You may be feeling fear for your best friend. I remember watching someone close through me become an addict and the dreams I had were of an alter persona killing them or doing harm to them. It was very interesting because the alter person was also the opposite sex of that person, but looked a heck of a lot like them. It has been my experience that things we can't always seem to get a handle on first are usually being worked out in our sub-conscience. I always pay attention to my dreams, but not take them so literally. This link is interesting and points to other dream contexts as well.

I'm sorry for your loss. :( But was your girl friend sick before she died or was it sudden? If you can remember exactly how your dreams happend (the ones about your friends) I'd just tell them to avoid whatever it was that caused the death. As in "don't drive your motorcycle" or whatever. Also, I've noticed that if I'm on a certain medication...it can cause some weird, sad, vivid dreams (I'm talkin' dead body, chasing dreams) so..if your on something....check that out. I would imagine it to be pretty predictable for you to have dreams of your friends after something like that happened- and you maybe continueing to have these days because you are thinkin' about them and are worried..... Best of Luck. and if your really concerned I bet there is someone you can contact

We dream about people in are lives, for all our lives, whether they are still with us or not. It's part of our keeping their memory alive as they are dear to us. It may be your deceased girlfriend or an old pet dog. The suffering you saw your loved go through has left you hurt, and over time you will work that through. Talk about your fears with your friends and family and realize that dreams are not real but the love of your friends and family is real.

I had nightmares each and every night time for just a little over a month- by and large approximately weeks 6-eleven. The nightmares have stopped ago 2 weeks- despite the fact that I'm nonetheless waking up at least one time a night time to pee! I suppose that it is only the loopy quantity of hormones going for walks by way of your frame. Give it a while, and it will have to paintings itself out.

Your dreams aren't about the future, they are about your worries. You fear losing your friends. Counseling might help. Good luck.
