I'm trying to grow back out a bad cut and some damage left from a chemical straightener about 7 months ago. I got extensions in the sides since the guy (from a quote reprible salon) that cut my hair saying he had to cut most of the damage off got carried away and cut my hair in choppy short layers and more layers on the sides than anywhere else. The sides are hard to do since they aren't mine, but at least the make my hair almost all once length looking even though it's still in long layers and the natural curl is growing back in about 3 inches and then straight on the ends. It is all about chin length and layered up real bad - actually looked better before the guy chopped it all up even though it was damaged, at least it was shoulder length and could be pulled back then. Needless to say, I'm not very trusting of beauticians at this point. I had a bad chemical treatment by one, a bad chopped up cut by another, and now have had to resort to temporary extensions - about 15 per side.

My dilemma is that I can either get the extensions out now and cry and be depressed even more than now while it slowly grows or keep them in while it grows out and stay away from beauticians!! Seriously, no offense to the good ones out there, but I haven't found one yet that knows what to do with naturally curly fine thin hair that is easily damaged, so they all damaged mine. The way I got it to look so good before all this damage was to stay away from them until I needed just barely trims only and let it grow. Should I take the extensions out and let it grow and risk the extensionist trimming it even shorter again after taking them out or just let it grow with the extensions in and deal with it for several months until they HAVE to come out??

Oh, you poor thing. I'm so sorry that happened.
Get rid of all the extensions and let your hair and scalp heal for a while.
No matter how bad it gets, you can always cut it off and it will grow back.
Good luck.
