I am terribly frightened right now. My dog is pooping out what seems to be clotted and fresh blood. She is really sad and looks depressed. Please, help me find a solution. We can't take her to the vet, either, because all of the vets are closed! I don't want to lose her.

She is about a 2 year old Peekapoo.

And I would call a vet or something like that but my mom won't let me and she won't take her anywhere.

And we just offered her a little bit of food, and she is ate it. My mom thinks that she is healthy because of it.

The poop is small speckles everywhere, kind of like diarrhea, and it looks like, which is weird, strawberry jelly.

And I am almost positive I haven't given her any bones, but she could have eaten a stick I guess.
Also, she has gotten bigger lately. Could that have anything to do with it?

She agreeded to look up vets in the Yellow Pages, and I think she is going to call one.

Okay after about 3 hours at the vet, we got her medicine and things and they say she will be okay.

I work at a vets office and the first thing I would do if you can't take it in to see the vet is to worm your dog. Hookworms and roundworms will kill a dog (especially a young or small dog) fast. If you don't think that is the problem think about things your dog could have eaten that may have irritated her bowel. Any bones? or chew toys like rawhide? Secondly is she vomiting or had any diarrhea? Is she up to date on vaccs?

Dog Pooping Blood

Vets are always on call; they usually leave a cell number or an emergency phone so call.
If it is bright red blood you really need to go to the vet now.
A small dog like her could have eaten something she shouldn't have and the can cause the runs and streaks of blood but what you are describing is more serious.
Take the stool with you to the vet.
Don't feed her now - that is not a good idea - at least phone the emergency Vet for advice

This could be very serious. you need to get her to a vet immediately. Either there should be a vet on call where you use or there should be an emergency vet somewhat nearby.
When You go you ;should take a sample of the stool.
I have worked in vets offices and this can be something simple but usually it is something that needs to be treated immediately.
You can check her gums if they are pale there is a good Chance she is loosing blood and again don't wait.

Look in the phone book for a 24 hour emergency clninc, or call your vet to see who's on call (they SHOULD have a recording.)

If you were pooping blood, wouldn't YOU rush off to the hospital? THIS IS VERY SERIOUS!! You cannot know what's causing it without a vet's help. It could be parvo, it could be something sharp the dog ate that has puncture its bowels.

Don't delay, this is a life-threatening EMERGENCY!!

She has some kind of internal bleeding and needs to be seen by a vet asap. Just because she is eating doesn't mean there isn't something serious going on that needs medical attention. If it were you pooping blood but eating would your mom assume you're ok and healthy?

Your dog may have contracted a parasite that causes trauma to the intestine. She may look sad and depressed because of blood loss. She needs to get to a vet immediately for emergency medical care. This is a life-threatening emergency.

Take her to an emergency vet. Check the yellow pages. Call your vets office and the recording should tell you what to do in case of an emergency.

Cause she is sick and needs the vet...
Or she got into the garbage and ate something that looks like blood. Maybe something caught in her guts, or has some sort of parasite. Maybe was hit by a car..
Hmmm can't think of anything that would cause her to bleed fresh blood other than maybe hemorrhoids... that you could treat at home.. Might want to get on that one..

Haven't your vets got an emergency service? If not then look in the phone book and find one that has. This is an emergency & you could lose your dog.

Hope she's soon better - will you post and let us know?
