Several things cause cramping, without having your system tested there's no way to know what is causing your specific issue.

Low potassium causes cramps
Poor hydration (drink more water) is also a cause

I'd make some adjustments to your diet..

Potato/Banana for potassium

Give it a try and see if it helps. If not, bring it up to your doctor at your next check-up.

Calcium deficieny can also contribute to this. The problem with immediately taking calcium suppliments is the risk of kidney stones if you're present calcium is already on par.

If you are younger they name them developing pains???? My ideas are you are not getting adequate calcium on your vitamin and if you're you are not soaking up it. a million,2 hundred mg. is the quantity for an grownup and absorption will also be lessened if you aren't getting a minimum of 15-20 mins of solar an afternoon or if you aren't getting adequate diet D. So, a Dr. is also ready to let you know what the quandary is. I realize that calcium deficiency reasons muscle cramps and I'm certain different matters too can. Good Luck.

Nocturnal leg cramps are very common, and now are linked to the "restless leg syndrome" that interferes with sleep. It may be related to a decreased Potassium level, dehydration, low sodium and Magnesium. Supplements have been tried along with stretching exercises.Sedatives and opiates are not recommended, because of tolerance and adverse reactions and dependence problems...Avoid caffeine drinks prior to bedtime, walking after supper can also help. See your MD,if problem persists.Take care. SW RNP

Could be a lack of calcium or potassium. I got a perfect solution tho for those nite time leg cramps. Place a bar of soap(zest irish spring etc) Place the bar under your sheet, and I promise you NO MORE NITE TIME LEG CRAMPS. It really works, got from the Doctors Mail Bag in my news paper. Just give it a try!!! P.S. doesn,t even have to be a new bar of soap.

This can be a symptom of thyroid problems. Have you been tested for thyroid problems lately?

Its not just potassium that causes muscle cramps, magnesium deficiencies can also cause muscle cramps. Try taking a calcium/magnesium/zinc blend.

Bananas won't help. Take a calcium supplement every day and they'll stop. Cramps are caused by a buildup of lactic acid in the muscle tissue. Calcium helps break it up.

I heard it has something to do with not getting enough potassium. Try eating more bananas or buying potassium pills.

If the cramps last too much longer... if I were you... I'd take a trip to the doctor to see what he or she recommends.

For me, it was that I wasn't getting enough calcium so I would get cramps. I also stretch more often, so the cramps are less severe.

Cramps usually can be cured by eating potassium. Bananas are a good source. Eat some bananas.

Try taking more magnesium (but make sure that it also includes calcium) or it won't be absorbed by the body.

If it isn't that & you tried everything else previously posted. It might be poor circulation in your legs
