I think my answer would be a little bias, because I have a ponytail myself. I don't always have it in a ponytail, mostly when I work, but I don't see a problem with it. On the other hand, I do notice a few people that have a ponytail that looks terrible on. The worst thing to see on a guy is having long hair that is not taking care of.

A ponytail still makes a guy look a bit antiestablishment, but there's more to a guy than his hair. I just don't understand why a man would want to have hair that's a hassle to maintain, rather than a comb-and-go men's hairstyle. If buzz cuts were popular for women, I'd get one in a heartbeat!

They don't really bother me.
But then again I grew up around them.
My mom has a Harley and always has, so quite a few of her "biker" friends have long hair they put back in either a long braid or a low poney tail.
Keep in mind though, these guys are from 45 years old to about 60.
I have a friend though who's a teen and he's an indian, he has a long braid, but that represents his culture.
As far as like a young straight up white kid with a poney tail... not very attractive- in my opinion.

I think it looks nice on some men. Read: SOME. Not all. It has a lot to do with facial structure, how well they take care of their hair and how well they can pull off that style, being that it's not widely accepted anymore.

Pretty much only American Indian guys look good with long hair because it's their culture.
Other than that, most other guys with pony tails look really pathetic.

I think of biker dudes. long hair on guys can look good, not a lot of guys can pull it off though. personally I like the look.
