Why are Muslims so sensitive regarding criticism of the "prophet" Mohammed?

I am an agnostic, so I do not profess to any particular religion. But I do enjoy learning about all the beliefs of the major religions (Islam, Christianity, Judaism, and Buddhism). What I do not understand is why do Muslims react aggressively and violently to criticism of Mohammed? I can criticize the main aspects of Christianity and Jesus Christ in front of Christians, and although they may get upset, they will not kill me. If I were to go to Saudi Arabia, Iran, Yemen, ect, and question the tenets of Islam and Mohammed I would surely be killed. How is this justified?

terrorists and Islam are not the same. and ppl confuse them to be as one. let me explain to you this way:

A TERRORIST would kill you for not believing what they believe.

A GOOD MUSLIM IN ISLAM tolerates what you believe and leaves it your choice as it is you given birth right to choice as you wish, be it good or bad.

in Islam on the non violent side we are learned to tolerate other's for what they believe. and as good Muslims we don't lash out at other religions. so when it is done to us we are kinda touchy for a # reasons

one is because, with everyone making assumptions that Islam is the same as a terrorist, has really gotten under our skin. for the past five years in Islam we all have paid for the actions of the terrorists. and personally i hope the Americans get rid of the terrorists. all of them.
and in most cases ppl are not "criticising" our Prophet Mohammed{PBUH}they are bashing him. calling him a murderer, a child molester, and amoung other degrading names, because they think they know the truth about our Prophet Mohammed {PBHU}

and also as i said, we are learned to tolerate. so we are the last religion that is willing to lash out. we are not all terrorists and yet this is how we all have been made to look. and we are tired from it.

i hear on here all the time. "well if your so good why are you not doing anything about it." or "why don't you stop the terrorists" i am not God, and i do not wish to play His role. i can not stop them. i will die because they will kill me. that is what these terrorists do.they kill their own ppl.

another reason, when the people ask why we are not speaking out...they are so blinded by answers like mine. i am speaking out against terrorist. so they go and they pick out one or two lines of what i say and bash me for it....yea we are sensitive about that too. because in our Quraan we are to fight in the cause of Allah SWT. our way to do this is in a non killing way. we are more concerned about killing ignorance toward our faith then we are the person itself. in a world of non violent Islam we have not any intention to take away someones free will, soul, rights not any of the above. does this sound like a terrorist? no, a terrorists wants your blood faster than it can spill. Islam don't wish this for you. so with all these conflicts of interests to us, yea we are getting a little worn and we are trying to keep out tolerance. but we are human and we get angry. so you may come across some Muslim who haven't such good patience with you or anyone who asks a Q on here.

Muhammad got to do whatever he wanted, everyone knows that. Muslim men are not limited to just their wives though. They can also have sex with captives and it's ok with allah. They just have to wait until she gets her period so they know she isn't pregnant. That's pretty convenient. So what does it really matter if they have 4 wives or not? quran 23 - 5. And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts) 6. Except from their wives or (the captives and slaves) that their right hands possess, for then, they are free from blame; 7. But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors; Some Muslim men are literally still doing this. There have been many horror stories about "masters" raping, hitting and abusing their servants, especially in Saudi Arabia. Read about the Sudan and the slavery that is taking place. It's horrible. Muslims Don't Like it because We love the Prophet More than we love our parents and family, so for you to criticize him is an insult to US.

You can Question but not insult.

i think that just because a couple bad people who happen to be muslim does something tremedously horrible to alot of people we have to be catagorized as killers. there are times when God legilates for a person to be killed and Slander or Making mockery of Muhammad (pbuh) is not one of them but also making mockery of him is not allowed and because he was the best of mankind who was sent to call the people to worship got without associating any partners we as muslim who learn about him grow to love him and follow him

Christians will not kill you only because the rule of law stops them and the American government is based on a document (the US Constitution) that is 100% secular.

Throughout their history, whenever Christians have had real political power they have used it as justification to murder, rape, and torture.
