It's not a known nor proven fact that cop's have low IQ's. I have 3 years of college and am a cop. This doesn't mean my IQ is huge but by no means am i "stoopid." Many of the men and women I work with have degrees also. One of my friends, who is also a police officer, has a Masters and teaches at the local college. Granted you do not have to have a huge IQ to be a police officer... but that's the beauty of the career. You are trained to follow guidelines to do your job, there are laws and procedures and I believe that almost anyone with a good amount of common sense and training can be successful in this career. What sets police officers apart is their willingness to put on a uniform everyday that basically says "hey here I am if you mess up you're going to get scolded... if you mess up bad you will go to jail.... if you can't control your kids I will.... if you and your girlfriend are having problems I'll help you solve them... if you are depressed I can get you help.... if you lose something I'll help you find it.... if you get scammed I'll help you... if have a chemical dependancy I'll help you get better... If someone takes your stuff I'll help you find it... if you get into a fight I'll break it up... if you are worried about someone i'll check on them...." and the list goes on and on and the officer is expected to deal with every situation in a polite respective manner even if he is taking a report while standing on old pizza boxes and dried dog turds in someones living room while fleas are burrowing into his polyester uniform.... basically a police officer is a verbal punching bag in a referee uniform trying to make this world a better place for the majority. Cops get spit on, kicked, punched, and wrestled with.... so many times it doesn't phase them and it's just "part of the job." The ability to deal with all of that and in the back of your mind know that you could be shot at or killed for just wearing the uniform says enough. Cops don't need a high IQ to do what is required from them; they just need the desire to do it.

No. They have enough other defenses they don't need to use that one. I love the way everyone here thinks they are at a spelling bee. It shows up every time someone does not flatter the cops. In a world of omg, brb, ttfn, and so many other broken text English collections of consonants who cares as long as the point gets made and the meaning understood?

If only stupidity could be a legitimate defense for accusing those who protect your non-spelling "ace" of being less than intelligent. I will admit that the only IQ issue that could be present, is why on earth they would risk their lives or time for a moron like you.....................You are a waste of a social security number, go hang yourself before your village realizes their idiot is missing...............

Hahaha, that is hardly a "known" fact. MAYBE traffic cops, but even that is unlikely. I would like to see you solve a lot of the crimes they have to.

Legitimate.
Oh the irony, calling our brave men and women in blue stupid when the art of spelling eludes you.
I know numerous police officers, all are highly intelligent. No, there are no super geniuses, all those guys are in labs!

You'd be much better off pleading stupidity. No jury would question it.
